well the planets have aligned and I am on the road heading north into Illinois to chase today. I will hope to put my Facebook live feed up when I get near Bloomington early this afternoon and of course we'll have live shots if and when I see anything
Keep coming north on 39 to Rochelle, then about 40 miles east on 38! I'll show you an Italian beef place....they have beer.

Still some stable wave cloud formations in eastern IA (lined up perpendicular to the flow at the top of the boundary layer). Not quite ready to convect yet, but as capping erodes the feature should dissipate / move on and initiation should soon follow.

I would wanna be up on that one coming across Savanna. Ya got some decent E-W roads to track that one after it passes. These are not exactly flying along. Looks like it's gonna clutter up so fast you may only have a shot at one on the S flank. I think your gonna have to get pretty lucky to find a twister.
It looks like the rotation with the lead(easternmost) supercell is trying to tighten up but I would be hesitant to chase that one...it's likely to produce a rain wrapped tornado if one develops. The next storm in line doesn't have as strong of a meso but it has less interference on it's SW flank.

gonefishin: Okay. I know these storms are no laughing matter, and I don't know if anyone has posted this, AND I know it's from the Weather Channel, which in and of itself causes it to lose some credibility, but this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

MakeitRain: The 12z NAM wants to develop a line of storms through the metro around 1-2pm this afternoon. However, the HRRR is not picking up on this piece. I would not rule out the chance of severe weather as we head into the afternoon.

snowday_lover: I was thinking this was to start late tomorrow night...are we thinking earlier? I'm in Ironton, so I'm not holding my breath for much per the maps that have been drawn up. I'm thinking a little bit of sleet and frz drizzle. Is that correct? It's a balmy 18
