It literally hailed that size for about 10 seconds. I think we were on the northern fringe of that cell. Didn't even rain when that fell. Biggest hail we had before that was marble size. I'm about 5 miles southwest of Desoto Main Street.

Earlier some people were talking about a dry line moving through central Missouri at some point. Here at mizzou the high temp was 77 and the dew point was about 53, but now is down to 46. At my home station in fenton, the high temp was 74 but the dew point is 62 right now. Currently a 16 degree dew point difference between Fenton and Columbia. Looks like storms are firing by Kansas city
Radarscope is showing the wind in the storm west of Ironton has 125mph winds. That sure looks like a tornado to my untrained eye. Why isn't it still warned. I've never seen winds that high show up on radarscope before.
That storm looks mean. I'd be willing to bet there is/was a tornado there.
Conditions should continue to become more favorable for tornadoes in southern MO throughout the night.
The line of storms that will affect the metro area tonight is kicking off as expected. Surface parcels still look like they could be capped as the line approaches St. Louis and the HRRR is hinting that outflow may push away the high theta-e air so this might limit QLCS tornado potential, but that's not certain at this point. On the other hand, the HRRR is spitting out some big UH tracks through the metro area so this is far from over. Stay alert throughout the night.
The SPC expanded the moderate risk area on the latest update. It now includes southwest MO.
snowday_lover: So weird.... sun is really out here right now. I just expected it to be full cloud cover by now. Hopefully the clouds move in soon. I'm ready to see what we get down here.

gonefishin - WashMO: Okay. I know these storms are no laughing matter, and I don't know if anyone has posted this, AND I know it's from the Weather Channel, which in and of itself causes it to lose some credibility, but this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

MakeitRain: The 12z NAM wants to develop a line of storms through the metro around 1-2pm this afternoon. However, the HRRR is not picking up on this piece. I would not rule out the chance of severe weather as we head into the afternoon.

snowday_lover: I was thinking this was to start late tomorrow night...are we thinking earlier? I'm in Ironton, so I'm not holding my breath for much per the maps that have been drawn up. I'm thinking a little bit of sleet and frz drizzle. Is that correct? It's a balmy 18
