As I head south to New Orleans, its time to post a fresh thread before my turn to drive the bus arrives.
Today is quiet. This evening is fine. Lots of questions remain about the system for tonight and Sunday. They key features to track will first be the 500 and 700 low centers. heaviest precip will be east of the 500mb low... and under/just left of closed 700mb circ. There is still enough variability in those features that its hhard to pin down the most likely area to see a few inches of slop Sunday morning. Im leaning on an axis pretty much right down the MS River. The actual area of accumulation will be fairly narrow as it will be the only area where snow is heavy enough to overcome melting. Outside of that narrow band...much of what fallls will melt. I think at least some snow is likely as far south as Hwy 50 in MO... and down to within a few miles of the Kaskaskia River in IL. However accumulating snow will be confined to ares near the Mississippir River...and mainly north of I-70.

The Nams are now west of the area, haha. Just don't see much sticking unless it really comes down for a decent period of time. Hamsters melting on contact is lame. Wasted inches. (That's what she said)

uh, I know what I posted yesterday. This is likely still nothing to be fascinated over unless it magically lasts a long time or comes in 8 hours sooner or later, or the temp is 10 degrees colder. After 3 winters of junk, watching it snow big time only to add up to nothing is a waste.

After 3 winters of junk, watching it snow big time only to add up to nothing is a waste. This makes literally no sense. Every day or so you complain it never snows. Now it will snow really hard and you can find no joy in it. I mean come on, heavy snow is heavy snow. Some will pick up several inches of now tomorrow. That is cool.

On the other hand, on the off chance it adds up to several inches somehow, then great.

Who is going to balance out the doom and gloom next year when work Series leaves for Chicago?

makes no sense my a$$. The joy of snow is not just seeing it fall. It has to be meaningful and be something. If I wanted to see it snow and add up to nothing I'd shake and watch a snow globe all day. It's always about getting the ground white. Otherwise what's the point.

Who is going to balance out the doom and gloom next year when work Series leaves for Chicago? My second personality 'perpetuallyhappysnowman' should be fully formed by then. I got this.

I went outside and was in blizzard conditions for 5-10 minutes. It was gone soon after, but was cool to experience. It factors into my assessment of this winter considering it was some of the heaviest snow I have ever seen. It is hard for me to comprehend somebody who loves snow not being excited about heavy snow. It is a paradox.

Both the Euro and GFS are dropping .5” of QPF or more tomorrow morning in the metro. I’m not to worried about accumulations. Elevated and grassy surfaces should get covered quick but roads will just stay wet. Should be a fun morning

Heavy snow melting is not fun to watch, if I wanted to see a wet ground I'd just want it to rain all the time The people who make money from snow removal get nothing. What's the point. Watching the fround turn from brown or green to white is awesome. Seeing it get wet is boring.

7+ lapse rates thru the DGZ Monster hamster sounding. Light winds from the DGZ to the surface are ideal for huge flakes

All you will see is a cascade of giant flakes tuning the entire sky bright white.

If it does indeed snow good tomorrow, all will be well. It's just hard to believe it will since we haven't even had a good snow in the core of Winter. I'm hoping for heavy snow! Would be so awesome!

Too bad it's not coming in a couple hours earlier. That was the difference a few weeks ago. Gonna have to snow like the dickens to accumulate.

Just about all the models have a few inches of slop to our north, then more to the south. They have a break over the metro with very little if any accumulation. Gotta believe because of the time of day the snow moves through here..right during peak heating during midday. Always something. Lol.

We are far from the snowbelt.
