If you are looking for something to do this weekend, come out and pay me a visit at the St. Louis Science Center as I take part in the National Weather Association's WEATHER READY FEST. NWA is holding their annual conference here in St. Louis next week and in advance of that conference, they are holding WEATHER READY FEST... to engage the national weather community with the St. Louis community!
I will be there showing off the Fox 2 Storm Runner all day.
The event is Saturday, August 25th from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM (although I can only stay through about 4 PM).
Tickets are free, but must be reserved online through the event website.

Saw this am that Lane is a Cat 5, and there is not enough space in emergency shelters. Hope the state and county officials out there revamp their disaster preparedness after the storm is gone. If my husband and I still lived out there we would have to go to a shelter, our house was original to the base and there were no interior rooms save 1 small closet.
Support bacteria, they're the only culture some people have!

Good to see some of the microdrought areas got a good soaking this morning. And of course the southern tropical areas got a good one again too. I'm sure it'll start drying out here soon as we head through the boring month of September and into early October.

grizzlebeard: I'll put this here since it rarely rolls over: Please include your location in your profile, or identify your location when posting observations. You saying it is 20 and raining doesn't help if we don't know where you are. That is all.

gonefishin - WashMO: Okay. I know these storms are no laughing matter, and I don't know if anyone has posted this, AND I know it's from the Weather Channel, which in and of itself causes it to lose some credibility, but this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

MakeitRain: The 12z NAM wants to develop a line of storms through the metro around 1-2pm this afternoon. However, the HRRR is not picking up on this piece. I would not rule out the chance of severe weather as we head into the afternoon.
