I can't believe I've got almost pure sleet here. in Fairview heights it was whiteout for 5 mins. It never got anywhere close to that here. Moderate at best before it switched over to sleet. Major disappointment.

Getting sleet in this setup is honestly a miracle.
The melted snow could have only barely melted looking at the SOUNDINGs.
The cold air near the surface is thin.

I did very well, we had heavy snow for about two hours (about 2” ) now a mix of everything still some big flakes mixing in at times with mostly sleet, maybe some freezing rain temp 29 . I bet we only get up to 33-34 by the morning rush. Temps have not moved all night to our south west. Everyone rolla, Farmington, the lake , is still at or below freezing. Springfield warmed up from 34 to 35 this evening. Not the big push everyone is talking about.

I agree with Friv I would rather have sleet than rain any day.

Beaker you and I said 1-3” , that verified pretty well. I think we have several hours of frozen precipitation. The radar continues to back build some. Hopefully the temps stay below freezing for a few more hours.

Snowfall Events: Blizzard of'82 I became addicted to weather

Not sure how people can be disappointed at this weather. All types of precip. Get me to Spring. I'm done with winter. Hopefully Modot takes care of the road. Seems like they sent mamy places of business and help cancelled highschool events. That better have the roads clear by rush. No excuses.

Took a nap. Had about 2 inches of sleet and snow mix on the ground. Now mainly rain and mass melting.

There's a few better pics for proof Show us a table edge/car top/something flat with a relative reference please. No far off photos that can’t judge depth easily.

I had 2” in Wentzville maybe a little more sleet since I measured last . He’s probably not to far off that I had a plow guy said they have close to 2” in Ofallon and St. Peter’s . They are plowing lots now . I bet there will be quite a few rural schools off tomorrow. The melting is not going to happen like all the local Mets said at 10 pm. You can look at the gateway guide camera most are snow and ice covered with sleet and freezing rain continues to fall. Plus temps are still below freezing.

Just need to make sure the ruler isn’t stuck to far in the ground. Chris I believe deducts 1/2” for grass measurements so he has 2”.

It really sucks that for 3-4 days the models held tight with it being mostly snow.
Then literally at 12-15z yesterday they abruptly jumped to the mess we had.

It really sucks that for 3-4 days the models held tight with it being mostly snow. Then literally at 12-15z yesterday they abruptly jumped to the mess we had. Which is why it is always good to approach a warm air advection event with healthy skepticism and conservative forecasting. Made it to work just fine… roads are thinly slushy and slick in spots but not into bed of shape
