Just saw on FB that Tom Skilling is retiring today. Definitely one of the best. Condolences to CBTL. if MTW was a 90's-era horror movie, the plot twist would've been that CBTL was actually Tom Skilling anonymously stalking us and himself.

Sun is out here for once and 50s today. Feels like summer and as I get older I really do notice a serious boost to energy and mood. I’ll always root for snow, but there is nothing worse than constant clouds/darkness and cold/dry. Especially with a toddler. once the kids are elementary age, you find yourself "1 part root for snow" and "5 parts pray for warm and dry ENOUGH to get them outside"

my FB Memories for 1/31/2011 include a couple of breathless posts touting the upcoming huge foot-plus snowstorm that we were "about to experience", lol.

Lol JB has gone completely insane in recent years. Unhinged nutter. I hadn't looked at his stuff in years. I just jumped onto his "X" (Twitter) feed.........holy yikes. 1 part "model-worship forecasting", 3 parts "breathless political ranting".

This is some heavy pixie dust falling... much heavier than radar suggests. Flake microphysics is fascinating to me. I've brought this up on here awhile back (probably back to the 2014 week-long call-off for most schools), but a big reason for the change that isn't talked about much publically is how state & federal attendance requirements have altered the situation for schools. MSIP is a school "improvement" program (quotes for effect) that puts a big penalty on districts for even 1 really bad attendance day that can skew yearly numbers. Its better for schools to just close and make it up in late May, or go with an "AMI" day online. Now, as far as the private schools, I can't speak to that.

Correction, March 4th. Just looked up the NWS story, somehow Lambert only saw 10.0, while I had 14 a few miles away and Overland had 13.5. LOL.

March 8th, 2008. I mention that one a lot on here, the heaviest snow I've ever seen when it was RIPPING overnight. We ended up with right at 14" in my spot in Florissant/Hazelwood, measured several places. BRTN I recall had a similar experience with that storm.

memories of the ice storm on the original MTWSTL blog on the Fox2 site: - everyone losing connection and freaking out from time to time due to power outages (this was pre-smartphone for most of us, attached to the laptop and wifi) - STLWeatherFanatic kid going ape on Glenn while Glenn was live on air, and Glenn NOT being pleased, lol

the weekend is looking like a washout for the tail end of youth soccer season, and Halloween night is looking like a "3 layer trick 'r treating" experience. Oof, what a weird fall we've had since back to Labor Day.

What is making this heat wave incredible to me is the humidity has essentially kept the heat index above 90 at night in St.Louis metro since last sunday. With very few hours below 100 at all the last 6 days. This was a beast of a heatwave. with the caveat that its a very different kind of heat (80's dew points vs 20's and 30's), this was the worst heat to deal with in STL since 2012, IMO.

First day of school for lots of teachers and students. I hope they all have A/C’s by now. We sure didn’t in the 70’s. Not sure if we ever got the day off for being too hot either. Can’t remember. the system was down in our building until about an hour ago. first three hours in this windowless classroom (on the 2nd floor of a brick building) was........toasty. I need Advil, a shower, and a nap, lol.

About 20 minutes ago while standing outside, that was one of the fastest dew point plummets (at least from the feel of it) I've felt in a long time.

If you were a hot dog, would you eat yourself? I know I would! I'd smother myself with mustard and relish. I'd be delicious! Classic Harry Carry I once took a pair of binoculars and stared at the sun for over an hour!

You think it would be warmer with the extra hour of sun That extra hour of sun in the afternoon really helps kick off severe season "If the moon was made out of green cheese, would ya eat it?? I know I would! Hey!"
