46 degrees with high clouds. We got spat on with spotty flakes around 9am. Whole bunch of nothing, melted long ago. Laughed at the ice that was frozen in the rain gauge = 1.89 inches.

EPS brings the polar vortex all the way down to the great lakes next week Welp, that will stop the griping re the mild winter from my WI cousin. Let the griping about the cold, commence! LOL 42 degrees, raining 1.07 inches today Seriously thought that we were going to just get spit on. Snow is rapidly melting except in the shoveled areas, but I literally had a sheet ice pond at the lowest level of the yard that may take longer to melt.

Have to drive to Ohio tomorrow. If we’re not getting anything good, it can just dry up.

Chris, FYI but your on air forecast graphic said 25-25 mph while you were saying 25-35 mph. Wanted you to know in case you plan on reusing it.

Oh honey, that just stinks. Do you have help around you? Family that you can stay with? Yeah. Parents came to pick me up last night. Going to be staying in stl for a couple weeks. That's really good. I would also be looking at that post surgery. I'd have them on call for longer than you want them to, just in case this is more involved than planned. Beyond discomfort and all of that, the logistics can be daunting. You need to worry about dealing with the injury and let others worry about everything else right now. Best quickest advice beyond the medical, get a shower chair/hand held shower device if you don't have one, for the tub (Walgreens or Amazon) Yeah, you can stand on one leg but that is exhausting and not safe, especially if you are taking narcs for pain at any point. If you have a big bathroom, put an extra chair in main area so you can sit/dress if you need to (shaving, tooth brushing, etc.) If you cannot remove the splint (dunno), put your leg in a kitchen garbage bag/ sealed at the top with micropore tape (clear plastic that tears without scissors from Walgreens) and then hang it outside of the tub. If you end up casted after surgery, do get the gortex extra covering. (Any wet weather is problematic without it.) If you have a recliner, you're golden (leg elevation). Two stiff pillows with shams off of a bed/couch lengthwise will do otherwise. Get rid of any area rug that slides anywhere, and have them clear paths to main areas. This includes the bathroom. Decrease risk of tripping/slippage anywhere, including near doorways outside. Even if you're at the table to eat, you need to elevate that leg. Any small sturdy item will do. (Can even flip over an empty garbage can/box/whatever. Just keep it from hanging down for extended lengths of time. Consider avoiding long drives for same reason. Once you can bear weight, everything gets easier. Long term, it's all about being a boy scout with the PT program. Short term, it's about following the elevation program. Resist cheating with any of it because of frustration/boredom. The point is to get better and be permanently healed, not dealing with potential extended problemos. This totally sucks but the pony in this is the fact that it's your left leg. You'll be driving a lot sooner than if it was your right. Tell your parents that most offices/hospitals have wheelchairs staged inside of facilities for appointments. Have them double park, come get you into the chair, and then travel around the place is a lot easier. Do this until you're truly strong and mobile as some of those places are large and you don't realize how far you have to go until you're on crutches. Sorry that this happened to you. The good thing is that you're young and healthy, you'll bounce back from this. But have to say that this is more proof that ice is evil. --- Jeepers, aka me, BSN, RN as well as being a mother to two kids who've either broken an ankle or gotten nasty sprains from sports, and has no ability not to give unasked for advice in these situations. Mea culpa.

Fell asleep for about an hour. This splint feels like a rock around my leg. Guess that's a good thing. Full fracture of the tibia near the ball of my left ankle and essentially pulled my left foot a good bit to the left as I slipped. They had to shift it back when they set it. All my weight down on it too. Stupid ice. Surgery in 2 weeks... weight... maybe in 2 months. Life-changing seems like a good word... that and deeply humbling. Oh honey, that just stinks. Do you have help around you? Family that you can stay with?

I wouldn't just be thinking about freezing fog tonight, I'd be worried about black ice. The roads are covered with snow melt out here.

postponing for rain. Lol. Funny stuff More like, 'postponing because parents all over the bi-state area melted our phone lines last weekend and we're not going to risk that again. Screw it, let's sit home instead and watch Netflix'.

Kid hockey game for this Friday night postponed. That's a first. I've only seen two high school games cancelled ever in the past 3 1/2 years, and both were on the same day as the system. Last week was one of them, and they didn't cancel until after 3pm. I suppose that there was trauma from that.

Although there isn’t enough information to make a real forecast, I do think that mentioning the possibility of ice or even a ‘mix’ would be helpful. People react differently to the I word and might make them pay closer attentionto this system as this evolves. Surprise ice is ugly on many levels. Jmo

It definitely looks like good potential for another possibly significant to major storm coming out a few days after this next one. And there's lots of cold air sloshing around to go with it. Uh, crap. Are you saying roughly midweek?I'm supposed to do the drive to Ohio on the 23rd (wed).
