In relation to the balloon situation. I'm a flight radar junkie. So while on the app today there has been military plane traffic over the area like there is any other day of the week. I did notice the Boeing RC-135U kinda of meandering throught Missouri near the balloons path. Now there is a Boeing Stratotanker that has flown from Georgia to Northern MO and has met up with the RC-135U. Can you tell if "the balloon" is following the river in a SE'erly course?

We can now see it in the Fredericktown area. So can my cousin in the Farmington area. We've both been texting and taking pics.

This balloon is absolutely being controlled. It hovered over an intercontinental ballistic site in montana, it has flown over nuclear energy sites, and will soon be over Scott. This is not just floating with the wind. Hopefully we shoot it down over a safe space even if its the Atlantic, and commandeer it. It is NOT for meteorological purposes. Absolutely, and well said.

Why is Chris down there? Nobody lives down there. 🤣 Hey! I live there....or here. This is a good little area to live in right between STL and Cape. Come on down and have some sleet, we've got plenty. I wish we could say hello to Chris as well. He's only 4 minutes from our place/Wal-Mart parking lot. But everything looks very slick out.

I saw Chris's latest announcement on messageboard changes so thought I better log in and make sure everything still works. I haven't been on here in awhile. Can I ask someone, on the Snowstorm920's post right above me, what do all the numbers on the map mean?

There's several embedded supercells that are trying to tighten up. Wound up MCVs like this one can really raise the tornadogenesis potential with enhanced vorticity and shear. You guys down that way need to be watching that closely. For the metro and points north it seems like more of a conditional threat after that lead complex turned the atmo over. But there's some impressive moisture advection and clearing ahead of the circulation so we could see some destabilization before that arrives later this afternoon. Not sure if this is totally a valid comparison to the May 8th, 2009 "super" derecho but it's still an MCV that's following a similar path. Oh please don't say that. That was one of the worst day's in my life. Ex-husband and I were caught in it on Hwy 72 and F with trees and power lines down on the road and my vehicle got beat to crap complete with windows cracked by the hail with us sitting inside and praying we didn't get blown over. A nice, simple thunderstorm is fine with me.

Just sit in on the NWS Conf Call, nothing earth shattering to report other than steady as she goes, and the forecast totals WILL change will plenty of time to still sort out the details. Snow/Sleet in the metro is 5-10, they showed a best case scenario of around 4", and worst case scenario around 10". Further north in the band from Sedalia to Pittsfield 11-17", with a best case around 9" and a worst case around 19". KFAM area, 2-5", with a best case around 1" and a worst case around 6" I assume the graphics including timing and totals would be up shortly if not already. tenor.com/es/ver/steady-jar-jar-binks-star-wars-calm-down-settle-down-gif-17545040

Biggest threats around here will be heavy rain and some hail. The closest tornado threat to us looks to be MAYBE southern Rynolda over to Madison County (MO)...or Fredericktown. But I really think it ends up further south towards Poplar Bluff and points south. It is REALLY hard to see anything other than hailers north of the track of the upper low which is forecast to pass well to our south. So far south... I'm beginning to look more closely at the potential for wet snow mixing with the rain tomorrow afternoon... especially in the higher terrain of the eastern Ozarks. I hope the tornadic storms don't pan out.

What’s today looking like for strong, severe storms in SE Missouri? I have to take my father to the doctor for some minor surgery soon.

I'm guessing 2 inches in Fredericktown so far. The wind makes it impossible to measure.

I’m just south of Farmington, between Farmington and Fredericktown. Heavy snow and blowing conditions. Yard covered. Looks amazing! I don’t feel bad at all for STL. I can’t count the number of times I sat here and read the forum just to hear what it was like to get snow while I had a dusting to nothing. We’re not even close to catching up. We deserve some love too. :-) Amen! And with our luck down here, this storm may be it for the year.

Moderate snow in Fredericktown with a dusting already. Heading to Farmington for work now. Let's hope people stay home and be healthy today and let us stay off the roads! Yeah, with some of the local crazies out there and using their phones and driving and being a Saturday. I'm sure you'll be busy today. You be careful! It's nice to actually have a decent afternoon moderate snow coming down for a change.

I've been sitting out for quite a while. We've had some real disappointing stinker of storms down here. And then last weekend's storm STUNK!!!! for my town. Only in Fredericktown can I go measure about 2" inches of snow around 11pm, only to wake up in the morning and seeing it shrink in size by the hour to near nothing by dinner time. ... and what's crazy is that 10 miles north and a couple hundred feet higher in elevation, we probably had about 4" or so at 11PM. I could see a appreciable difference between home and Fredericktown at 5:30 AM Saturday morning. So YOU took all the extra snow from all of us wee little town's people? Hmmmm?

12Z Euro looks good for snow for south of I-70 and especially our southern members like toddatfarmington. Good Lord NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one I know down here wants that. That's horrible! We want to plant our gardens and enjoy some much needed outdoor time and sunshine. Winter's been going on for over 5 months temperature wise. I hate this crap. Tired of being cold all the time. I want Spring PRONTO!
