I just checked hotels.com and it appears that hotels directly in the eclipse path to the west and south of St. Louis are now booking up. Carbondale and Cape Girardeau are nearly 100% booked. Same with St. Genevieve, MO and Chester, IL. St. Clair and Sullivan down I-44 are 100% booked. Even Union is booked up. I guess those suckers don't realize how risky that choice is.

I just checked the reservations at Super 8 here in union, and sure enough we're all booked up for Sunday the 20th. Withall kinds of rooms for the 19th and 21st, lol.

That would be a great spot. You would probably be able to see the shadow racing toward you at supersonic speed from that vantage point. |
