Since this was the last post in old thread, for our motorsports fans:
Weather plays a big roll for our local dirt track facilities throughout the year. But now they have fixed that problem, indoors.
Just over a week away, the dome is being transformed into a "Bull Ring" dirt track similar to Belle Clair Speedway in Belleville, for the 1st annual Gateway Dirt Nationals. There is a waiting list of drivers waiting to get entered, as they only accepted 500 entries(250 Modified, 150 Late Model)
The GFS has a decent large scale lift though. The problem with it (and to a lesser extent the NAM) is that there is really dry air at surface eating most of the precipitation. One big difference between the GFS and Euro right now is the evolution of the energy entering the Pacific Northwest on Friday. The GFS forms a shortwave in the flow early on whereas the Euro holds a lot of the energy back and trough's it out later and further south. The 12Z CMC seems to be a blend of the two ideas.
Whens the last time Seattle was under a winter storm warning? Feel like its been awhile. There under a watch right now
We forecasted for SEATAC airport... back in the 90s/00s and I remember several snows. If I recall... when it did snow it Seattle, a bit down the road occasionally we would see those blue northers down the Plains- setting up freezing rain/sleet situations around here as we would be on the eastern edge of the arctic air.
Isn't this about the time that blizzard surviving under a wheel well azzh0le from up north chimes in and says how st louis is a huge snow disaster and how he's having dinner with Tom skilling every night?
Welcome to the shout box. Just trying this feature out.
snowday: What is the approximate timing of the Wednesday system? Are we talking rush/evening or later in the night - like after 8pm?

grizzlebeard: I'll put this here since it rarely rolls over: Please include your location in your profile, or identify your location when posting observations. You saying it is 20 and raining doesn't help if we don't know where you are. That is all.

gonefishin - WashMO: Okay. I know these storms are no laughing matter, and I don't know if anyone has posted this, AND I know it's from the Weather Channel, which in and of itself causes it to lose some credibility, but this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

MakeitRain: The 12z NAM wants to develop a line of storms through the metro around 1-2pm this afternoon. However, the HRRR is not picking up on this piece. I would not rule out the chance of severe weather as we head into the afternoon.
