Literally, that storm near litchfield looked identical to the icon picture for RadarScope for a few minutes. Crazy.

I have already reported it to NWS, but I can confirm touchdown in Litchfield IL. It was about 1/4 mile to E of my house, I watched it pass by. Hail increased to over .5" just before it passed. It was a thin one. Now I hear a bunch of EMS vehicles rushing to the SE side of town....

Had 2 cells pass over here. First cell mostly pea size hail with a few quarter size. Next cell was a little more robust! Started with a few pea size and quickly escalated to quarter size with a lot of wind. Not seeing any damage at the moment. It sure did a number on the remaining leaves that were still on the trees.

Texted a friend in Taylorville, says there is damage, he had wind and hail. He lives about 2 miles north of Taylorville proper.

18z gfs buries the metro. I like where were sitting right now...the ridge is forecast to be right where you'd want it and there's room for N adjustment. That storm appears to have a healthy feed of moisture as well...QPF output is impresssive in the cold air. |

bdgwx, jmg, and I did some chasing today in west central Illinois and saw multiple tornadoes. Ill upload some of the pics we got now and some more later when I get to a more secure wifi. That last picture was taken by bdgwx on the storm E of Havana Illinois with the 140kt gate to gate shear BRTN mentioned    Fun stuff to see the board organize for this! Looks like a successful chase! |

I just took a drive on I-57 heading N of Salem to see if I could catch the lightning off the Taylorville cell. Wow, it was like a strobe light with bolts shooting all over inside and even a few outside of the thundercloud, an amazing storm.
