12z GFS is still showing highs around zero or few degrees above zero on Wed in the immediate metro to the south! It will be interesting to see if it holds. Wind chills -30. That is worthy of a WCW.

Little doubt in my mind that WC advisories/warnings get hoisted next week. This isn't your run-of-the-mill cold snap...

Southern stream gets going in the 7-10 day range.
Pattern will have to relax a bit, but we are not flipping to spring.

I am in the camp that the extreme cold previously advertised will be modified somewhat as we get closer to next week. Lows of 0 high of mid teens is what im thinking, but this pattern is conducive of winds so WCA at least may be hoisted early next week.

Looking longer term towards the first week of February, the cold looks to retreat as one would expect especially of this magnitude and the southern jet stream looks to get more involved. With the cold air still lurking around to the north and the southern storms ejecting from the south could be some fun times ahead!

What part of Syracuse? Looking at traffic cams all around Syracuse. isn't indicating any snow of that depth.

gee I wish yesterday and today was way warmer then expected here. 39 yesterday, 45 right now Wrong side of the clipper is always warmer than modeled. Hell, compression as they approach is usually good for a temperature jump.
