I was so lucky when this happened. I went to an ER and they didn't even refer me to anyone. It was back in 1978. My brother was in the Air Force and already in the medical field. Of course I called him and I got all the proper advice from him. The ER said nothing about how long I should stay off of that ankle. All they said was put ice on it and elevate it. Lady Luck was on my side. One thing somebody told me in the ER when they came back and said it wasn't broken I acted relieved they said you'd probably be better off if it was. I really didn't understand why they said that. I found out

I'm here in Sesser Illinois. They appear to have about three inches of snow on the ground. I would imagine most of that fell Saturday

Fell asleep for about an hour. This splint feels like a rock around my leg. Guess that's a good thing. Full fracture of the tibia near the ball of my left ankle and essentially pulled my left foot a good bit to the left as I slipped. They had to shift it back when they set it. All my weight down on it too. Stupid ice. Surgery in 2 weeks... weight... maybe in 2 months. Life-changing seems like a good word... that and deeply humbling. I hate reading this. Were you on the job? Wishing you a speedy recovery Luke.

Chris, any new thoughts on possible freezing drizzle tomorrow morning? I am mentioning it this morning for tomorrow morning. The moist inversion topped by a layer of relatively dry air makes for a good set-up. However, the dry air atop the inversion is not as dry as I normally like to see. That said, there should be some weak large scale upward motion because of the warm air advection. That alone may be enough to get some drizzle going...the question is when. It may not start until after sunrise...but knowing how even a little of this might impact the commute...I didn't want to get too cute...so just calling for chance for some freezing drizzle during the AM rush...and let later shifts refine the wording and timing.

What is the current EPO and projected EPO index over the next 10 days?
9 degrees in Perryville this morning with the heavy snowpack. Some of these drifts are gonna take a while to melt I believe.

Wind is picking up and I'm getting some blowing of yesterday's snow. That may create some surprise icy spots in shady areas where the wind deposits some snow across the road.

Reason I ask about the EPO is due to the apparent battle we are going to be seeing between the NW flow and the SW push. Just wondering if we can expect to see the Pacific flow come alive again.

Haven't looked at any forecasts but it has to be negative with that ridge blowing up near AK. The Pacific flow looks to take a break for a while with cP/cA airmass taking hold as a deep long wave gets carved out over most of the lower 48.

I haven’t look recently, but I thought the MJO was moving to a warm/stormy phase. Couple that with the PV that is obviously on our side, fun times ahead. The way the trough looks to setup, over-running looks likely as the PV moves around. I believe we are getting ready to move into an epic 2-4 weeks of weather.

So the Alaska ridge looks to be building and strengthening further? Could be a fun run into February if so.

12z ukmet is way south for Tuesday...
Like the 6z nam. Euro should be interesting, but impacts for STL will probably still be limited to some light icing.

HRRRrrrr is also in agreement. Still not digging enough to put us on the cold side, but should definitely limit the amount of WAA Monday night/Tuesday morning IMO. Luckily, the track just about dry slots the whole area after some light rain/drizzle. Cyclonic snow showers are definitely a possibility on the back side with that setup as well.

I don't know about that. The 12z ukmet has the low in north central Arkansas. I haven't seen a run like that outside of the 6z nam. Maybe it is just the energy transfer showing up different on the ukmet, but it looks distinctly different to me.
