And speaking of violent tornadoes, here's a look back at one of the last two to occur in the US back in the year 2017. You will all remember this one from Perryville, MO in February of that year (the other was Canton TX in April). Notice it lofted debris about 20,000ft in the air. Among highest debris plumes I can remember seeing in the dual-pol era.

Amazing. I was impressed by the little EF1 that missed me by 500yds to the S that was lofting tree debris below 1kft...I couldn't imagine seeing a tornado like that. I would have chased the Litchfield/Taylorville tornado had I gotten off work about 30mins earlier.

I remember meeting you over at mcdonalds that night about a half hour before it hit Chris. Didn't get to talk long but could tell you were very concerned about that one. Still hard to believe how close it was (0.9 miles away from my house at its closest). Had it been daytime I would have seen it clearly. Even 2 years later I still look at the damage path every day when I drive through it to and from work. I'm still amazed how several of the houses were just gone. No walls, furniture, nothing. I know one guy who found a high school yearbook in the field about 200 yards away and nothing else. A Perryville city trash can lid was found somewhere in southern Illinois along with some family photos that were reunited thanks to social media.

Off the tornado topic, but I'm starting to get to be at a loss for words about the Blues at the moment. I'm trying to remember a run like this, and my memories go back to the 70s.
I just hope it doesn't turn out to be like the Cardinals last year where they went nuts in August and limped down the stretch

Till u would say start time in the 9pm-11pm time frame. Less than a .10” event. But with freezing drizzle it won’t take much.

What is the bust potential for this one? Sorry I haven’t been able to look at anything recently due to work and trying to get a nap here and there. I’m hoping there will be a enough chemicals out from this morning for this event.

Hate to even look out that far with two different storms ahead of it but as it stands there's virtually nothing to keep it from cutting way to the NW. We'd need a much flatter flow across the lakes...the SE ridge is forecast to be strong. It does look like that storm could harbor a major pattern change though. "Major pattern change" in what way?

Pattern change as in the trough possibly moves east giving us better snow chances.

I’m hoping there will be a enough chemicals out from this morning for this event. Probably depends on what you call a bust. I think confidence is pretty high that there will be light freezing precipitation of various sorts along and north of I-44 on the Missouri side. None of the models print out more than 0.1 qpf anywhere around here, and most places are in the 0.03 to 0.05 inch range. Lighter precipitation and surface temperatures will be 3 or 4 degrees warmer than last Sunday. Whether that's enough to let what's out there ride is a tough question.

Looks like a good amount of drizzle moving ne on springfield radar. After this scattered band of crap moves thru should be drizzly freezing drizzly. Like forecast has.

Wow, I am down to 26*. Anything that falls should freeze solid on contact. I am noticing a split/no radar returns just as moisture is coming toward southern jeffco. yesterday there was a due east wind and tonight a ESE wind from looking at obs. Baldwin, Rush Island Power Plants and the 2 cement plants are practically due east of de soto. I will say it again until someone refutes it with some kind of backing, there has to be some kind of inter-action, warming/drying of the near surface layer of atmosphere when the winds are favorable (unfavorable in my eyes) WRT incoming moisture. If we have seen 'smoke stack effect snow', why not the opposite effect? Anyone care to give your opinions?
