Any word on what the local corn-on-the-cob crop is going to be? If any, given the soggy fields. Have they even been able to plant? row crop Farmers are having a much harder time with the flooding and heavy rains there will be a big loss this year but the sweet corn will be in this week already had a shot of Arkansas sweet corn it was great! We had some from Dierbergs (don't know where it came from) last night. It was really good.

I guess NWS expects it to crash south? Last few radar frames show some weakening. Also found it interesting that the southern edge of the line had some respectable rotation there for a bit.

The storms out west of Warrenton, are moving Northeast. Almost perpendicular to the line coming. Is that indicative of some sheer or how the storm will eventually move as it nears STL?

HRRR is lost right now

Sure is. Remember last summer when that complex came from Nebraska, then survived the hostile environment in Iowa and northern MO before finally taking the right turn and blowing up as it plowed through the area? HRRR was clueless until it was basically happening. That thing made it damn near to the Gulf Coast by the next morning. Most incredible shelf cloud I've ever seen as it backed up into Perryville from Illinois. Had some awesome pictures from that before my iPhone 7 crashed and I lost everything . Speaking of shelf clouds, there should be a pretty good one with this.

So is the first line gonna make it here or will it do the STL split?? Place your bets, place your bets....

It is showing some signs of weakening but the southeast motion is still evident. We may just get a nice shelf cloud with some remnant thundershowers, who knows.

High and dry for tomorrow according to almost all guidance. Probably going to get mid 90s if things are close enough for storms to pull up warm air from the south. Heat Advisory may be necessary. Glad I got the lawn done tonight, this weekend looks like a Sauna.
Edit: I say that, but the NMM, WRF, and ARW clobber us as well as the RAP. Metro northeast still very much in the threat for now. Logically thinking even if the first round of storms is north it should draw a outflow boundary for secondary storm clusters to follow farther south. Gonna be interesting one way or another.
Doesn't feel like 90s brolio

That second line is going to try to catch up to the lead line...could congeal into one big line like the 12z 3k Nam shows, albeit a bit sooner than the model would indicate. Fascinating things to watch from a weather perspective.

I just want to see the bow echo flare out into a more smooth front edge and maintain it's red radar returns into the immediate metro.
A wild shelf cloud, lighting strikes, and blinding heavy rain will have me in bed resting my stomach by 1pm.
Otherwise I'm working till 430-5.

All of Iowa is covered with pretty heavy rain. How much will that slow the fall of the major rivers?

Those are some wicked storms on the northern fringes of the viewing area. We will see what happens when line #2 catches the ! BACKSIDE ! end of the first line. May re-energize things.

DISCUSSION...Organized MCS with bowing segment from western IL into central MO north and west of St. Louis continues east southeast at 35-40 kt. The associated expansive cirrus shield is slowing boundary layer warming downstream. Nevertheless, latest objective analysis shows a reservoir of strong instability (3000-4000 J/kg MLCAPE) in the warm sector from southeast KS through southern MO. Most likely scenario is for storms to continue southeast along instability gradient in vicinity of a warm front currently extending from near St. Louis southeastward through middle TN. As the surface layer continues to destabilize, some increase in intensity may occur this afternoon. Damaging wind is expected to remain the primary threat.

Looks like a series of small lines developing across the state heading this way before that next big line gets here. Will they help to stabilize the atmosphere?

Just finished this account and took the opportunity to snap a few pics off to the W/NW of me. This is in middle of Washington MO. I may just end up being on the very southern edge of this one. So dark here now all street/parking lot lights are on.

Yeah the northern part of the complex is better organized due to the orientation of the 3km shear vector pointing due east. Higher line normal shear promotes outflow restriction and stronger more upright convection.

Nothing too impressive here on Alton...a few 30mph gusts and heavy rain with occasional thunder...classic weakening as it approaches the river valley.
