Fox 2 had the grasshopper story on their website mid-day on Saturday. But I talked to a friend who is visiting Las Vegas this weekend and he saw no evidence of it. So I don't know whether the grasshoppers were staying out of the urban areas. Insert joke about them finding a better hotel package deal away from The Strip here

No severe, just some scattered showers and storms.

Any Fall weather predictions yet? The two I've seen call for either cold/chilly temps compared to normal or about normal temps and precip.

Back from Clearwater. What a gorgeous weekend. I have a great Sunset picture but pictures and I never did get along on this site as far as posting them easily from the phone. What a beautiful week it was weather-wise here.

I forgot to post this earlier. A 145 year old record was broken last week from an event that was widely underestimated and almost universally missed by models at least in terms of magnitude.

Is it just around my house or are others seeing an unusually high amount of activity from purple martins and wrens. We've always had a few martins around during the summer. Especially after the grass gets cut. But this is more than a couple and it's almost constant during daylight. They are so fascinating to watch.
And the wrens...at one point last week I had 5 of them sitting on the window sill staring in watching me. Made me almost self conscious. I began looking around for Tippi Hedron. I started to reach for my tablet to try to get a picture when something scared them off.

Hate to be nosy but is the gal on at noon doing weather, expecting? Yes. She announced it on a weekend morning a few weeks ago that she is due in November

I started to reach for my tablet to try to get a picture when something scared them off. I have noticed the same...lots of martins and swallows around this year. They love to fly alongside my drone which is so fun to watch. And we have a lot of wrens as well. Also this is the first time I remember seeing catbirds in the yard. And we have had several bobwhites too. The green herons nested again in the willows around the pond. With all the moisture and bugs the birds and critters are doing very well. There are tons of skunks around too!

How bout that nw flow on the gfs the next 10+ days! Yeah models show no signs of breaking down this pattern at all over the next couple weeks. If anything, the NW flow strengthens into August as the vortex decends down into Northeastern Canada/Hudson Bay region.

I don’t see a single forecast high in the 90’s for the next 10 days. Are we sure this is the dog days of summer in STL?

Got nearly half an inch out of that downpour in mid county around 6pm.
And the lightning show to the south around 8:30 was amazing. Sun was down but the cloud tops for the storm over Arnold were somewhat lit up but also had tons of lightning. Sorry I didn’t get pics.
