Honestly giys the difference between 72 and 75 is only 3 degrees. So saying no way we all know that there can be a 20 degree difference in a few miles like we have experienced this week in the morning with 20 to 45 degrees within 5 miles due to.geographocal diffemces so i do not see why yall are griping at me I am.reporting what I am.seeing seesh

That makes them hard to trust. Going to be warm? St Peters is the warmest. Going to be really cold??? St Peters is the coldest. Snow??? Always the highest. Temperature extremes are much more common at night... during the day...those tend to even out because of mixing.

I understand but i am using thermometer 10 feet off the ground in my book 72 and 73 is just a technical number. As they feel the same. But i show 74.1 as the high today and as far as last snow 7 inches was reported very near me. So my numbers are exactly.in line amd I told yall I am trying tonbe better and report with the equipment I have. Im not going to spend.thousands of.dillars.but i habe a older davis that showes 74.1 as todays hi, and my walmart accurite thermometer showed 73. I am just reporting what I see. I am also a trained storm.spotter and have beem for 11 years. So I am sorry but i am reporting what I see. And I have been trying to post more.pictures for yall too

Got a new Davis for Christmas but Hub needs to mount it on the pole for me. Can't tell ya what temp I hit. All I know is that I have my windows open and a fan running in the kitchen because I'm in a tshirt sweating to the oldies with all of this cooking going on. LOL
And I just hung up the phone with a sister who is driving with family from Toronto to show them the Canada side of Niagra Falls and it's a whopping 41 degrees as of 30 minutes or so ago. On the bright side, a lot of folks have good roads for the holiday.

If it's any consolation, I had a viewer send in their weather station reading 84*.
I'm wondering if they put their sensor under a magnifying glass.

And I have been trying to post more.pictures for yall too I used to have one of those walmart accurites. Didnt like it. It would show readings out of line even though i followed guidelines on installing it, especially on bright sunny days in the winter. I dont think the fan on those things work well enough. Eventually kids in the neighborhood vandalized it. I just rely on local reports now bc i dont have a real good place to install a station to track all elements. I wld love to put one up at Twin Chimneys Elementary but am concerned about vandalism on a good one. I would not trust any of the cheap ones either and thats based on the spiked readings i got even in the shade. A good old fashioned mercury thermometer might be my right next step and a manual rain guage. I dont like to spend any amount of money on crap that doesnt work and getting a good one isnt feasible bc of the rsns i cited.

I agree. I may do the old mercury route. Aa far as rain I .usually spot on to others near me as it is a regular.rain guage however i only use it april to.october so it does not freeze

I had trouble with spiked readings in the winter time. Really wish theyd pull those off the shelves. Ppl spend 99 for them and those sensors go crazy when theres less shade.

In retrospect, i wonder if swinging that bad boy around to the opposite direction in the winter months would have helped. Might be worth a shot.

Currently mine shows 62 which is spot on I would say. Its definately not a issue at night. Just over heats at day.

When theres no solar radiation, the readings get more in line. Good luck and let us know how that works out. I previously thought reflection off snow was the culprit, but i dont think that is the case. If you do hv snow cover somewhere keep that in mind but for now lets see if readings are affected by swinging it around.

Taking a look at the key teleconnection indexes over the next 7 to 10 days suggests conditions are not favorable for sustainable winter weather through the period. Im not going to fall for the 2 weeks out thing. I think for now, our conversation will be abt watching for severe wx and if the temp cools, itll be more abt how much rain. The 12 gfs was highly amplified, so we cld get some brief cold spells but by and large, an overall mild regime will continue well into the first week of jan if the forecasts verify. Hope everyone is having a happy holiday season. Remember that theres still months to go to get a good winter pattern going.

As for the storm threat on Saturday it's your typical high shear low CAPE type event with a low topped quasi-linear squall line with damaging winds and the potential for embedded spin up tornadoes especially south of the metro.
