I can say this was an overperformer. Lots of thunder too. With these kinds of systems, I wish I had a rain gauge. A few years ago, I bought a cheapy from Walmart bc where I live, it just doesn't make sense to go all in with a Davis because there is not an ideal place to put it as our houses are on top of each other, and I have trees in my backyard, plus my backyard slopes. Now, if I could install one at the elementary school in my subdivision, that could work out, but then the issue is concern about vandalism - any place where there's a lot of kids, there's just a lot of mischief.

I don't have covid 19 I wont get it. And thanks to the NHL I don't have a job now. Awesome. Pretty cavalier to think you won’t get it (probably a mild form that might not even be symptomatic). Then if you interact with anyone in poor health or elderly you could do a tremendous amount of damage. The job part of it sucks though. Very sorry you have to deal with that

I wonder why this thing is so much worse in Italy...they just had another massive jump in cases and deaths. Not going to lie, this is starting to rattle me a little.
I also hope the HRRR is right and the supercells fire juist to my south tonight.

Had a garden variety spring thunderstorm here. Several shots of lightning, some wind and some moderate rain. But none it was excessively heavy or strong.
Kinda' nice to hear the rumble of thunder and see the flashes of lightning a few times.

Avoid sams in ofallon, IL. No carts, except in the parking lot. Traffic congestion. Long check out lines. We were just picking up a couple of items. Every one else was preparing to be stuck at home for a year.

Surely, the destruction to the economy will far outweigh impacts from coronavirus after it's all said and done.

I think the idea is to “smooth the curve” of cases so to speak. Instead of having a huge spike it cases all at once your spread out rate of infection so hospitals can handle all those that need care. Italy is a prime example of what not smoothing the curve looks like. Totally agree on the economy part. That will be the biggest damage done

After getting evacuated from Lake St. Louis Walmart last night because of an incident, I went over to Target. Ppl were running through Target getting TP and PT. I only needed soap and milk. ugh.

I still have eight or nine bottles of bourbon in the cabinet. I'll need them after another rout on Wall St today, no hockey (reigning Stanley Cup champs for two years though, baby!!!), maybe no baseball, and wondering if my kid's last HS softball season will somehow get axed. Fun times.

There is part of me that has wondered about this being an over-reaction... certainly the run on TP is... but the ease with which this is transmitted and the vast size of our vulnerable populations and inability to care for them all makes this the real deal in my opinion. Yes... most of us are healthy and will likely just get one more ugly cold. But my son is diabetic... and this virus could kill him...so I appreciate the overkill. They are trying to keep the US from turning into Italy.

920 is correct. The point is to smoothe the curve so that our health care system can handle it. It's not over reaction and over hyping as some like to say. Ital didn't smoothe the curve. And they have extreme issues. Trying to keep people separated and away from large groups is the whole point. That means sporting events, festivals, concerts, so forth. We are just trying to keep our fragile health care system working instead of chaos.

I also hope the HRRR is right and the supercells fire juist to my south tonight. Italy has the 2nd oldest population in the world on % basis, behind Japan. The virus does the most damage to people over 70 and weak immune systems. According to what I’ve read, Italy failed to take immediate action and now it’s trying to catch up. Open borders has really hurt the European countries in this situation.

I think the media is taking full advantage of it, but my gut tells me this is the real deal. It was bound to happen eventually...these things happen in nature and quite frankly it has been a long time since one has come along. Couple that with rapid mass transportation and extreme population density and we are fortunate it isn't any worse. It's becoming pretty obvious that it targets the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions. Having said that, I would still be really freaked out if I got it.
The apocalyptic feel to society right now is really strange. I agree with BRTN and reiterate what I said last week...the economic impacts are really scary. We can only hope for a major jump back up once this thing passes.

I think it is a massive overreaction and media hype that is causing panic and may lead to social unrest. We need to be most careful with our elderly population and those with weakened immune systems. While there is no easy answer I feel cancelling entire sporting events is just ridiculous. Let the teams play in front of limited crowds.

Had my money on the sidelines since stocks were way overheated. Now I get a discount. If it rebounds to 26,000 or 27,000 it’s still an easy 15-20%.

Every one else was preparing to be stuck at home for a year. Have you tried the Scan and Go on the Sam's app? It's a game changer. You no longer have to stand in those long lines. It's great! (but it can't help with the traffic)....
