Back to bed.

My store has been super busy since this all started. a few people buying less perishable items in large quantities, just in case. But if no one can go out or to school they will end up eating more fruits and vegetables anyhow...
I've talked to several of my produce suppliers and there are no changes in availability or spikes in prices so that's good!
I feel for all those losing hours and paychecks :-(

Back to work tomorrow in an office with 100 people. No chance of us closing. We are considered crucial state employees.

Just saw this on Facebook. Not sure if it’s accurate or not.
Hello, this is Kyle Kruse with the St. Clair R-XIII School District. We have been monitoring the corona virus, COVID-19, situation closely. I have just been notified that a person with a connection to our school and community has been tested for the virus. Official results have not yet been received, but the person may be a "presumptive positive." Guidelines from the CDC recommend that in this situation, schools close for a short period while the situation is assessed and it is determined if further actions are necessary. The St. Clair R-XIII School District will be closed Monday, March 16 and Tuesday March 17. Information about further actions and possible longer term closings will be forthcoming.

If millions end up out of work for a month and business isn't back to normal.
I'd guess 100 people will be MURDERED for a resource they have.
That's minimum.
That will expotentially go up once we reach a point where millions don't have food.
Personallly I'll just go to a store with a large carry bag and take whatever I need.
Tonight there was cops at Swansea schnucks working undercover to watch theives.
Like 6 at least.
They only stopped people who were taking liquor.
I know this because I know the police because of how I lived for 3 years
I'm just surprised the quiet looting has already started.
Our government needs to immediately hand out link cards to single adults with 50$ in provisions a week.
For each kid you have you get another 50$.
Given how slow we reacted to closing the borders.
Yeah

What is the severe potential this week?

Our superintendent sent staff a message this morning saying to prepare as if it is the last day of school tomorrow. Wow is the only response I could muster.

What is the severe potential this week? I’ll just copy what the SPC says: DISCUSSION... A piece of the upper trough/low now off northern CA should continue ejecting northeastward across the Plains to the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, and OH Valley regions on Day 4/Thursday. At the surface, a cold front extending across parts of the southern/central Plains should have numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms ongoing along its length Thursday morning. Although mid-level flow will be strong across the warm sector ahead of the morning convection, it should remain largely oriented parallel to the surface front. The overall severe threat from thunderstorms occurring both along and ahead of the front remains very much in question owing to generally weak forecast instability and front-parallel flow aloft. Still, at least a marginal threat will likely exist from portions of the southern Plains into the mid MS Valley, and perhaps as far north as the OH Valley.

I was going to PM you to see if you had any insight for baseball/softball. My senior daughter is not handling that possibility very well.

Please take any discussion related to the pandemic to the "Official COVID-19 Pandemic Thread" I created in the general discussion forum and try to keep this area weather only. Thanks! That's fine, and we probably should. However, most people migrate here. As long as the weather discussion isn't being completely hijacked, virus talk is OK. When severe weather pops, I expect that will take over as the main topic.

Since the CDC is saying no gatherings of 50 or more people, I would say any school sports, or any sports at all would be a no no.

Agree. This is kind of important, yea? It's not morel mushroom hunting (yet) or deer season. I think we can make an exception for a once in a lifetime pandemic. If a severe episode gets popping that will become 95 percent of the discussion and I would hope people could separate that.

Once weather goes for profit, every storm that is above normal will be sensationalized and it’ll go down the same drain as 24 hour “news” media.
