There actually has been a massive locust explosion in east Africa that is feared to cause major food shortages. Worst in decades.

GFS is very stingy with afternoon convection in MO. Focus is much further to the southeast. Socked in with clouds all day.

GFS is very stingy with afternoon convection in MO. Focus is much further to the southeast. Socked in with clouds all day. Meanwhile, the latest HRRR shows 2000j/kg+ SBCAPE and fires supercells across W/central MO by mid-day. It does seem overblown with Tds though, with widespread 65*+ across the Bi-state. Lots of mixed signals with this one. These setups are always tricky with the subtle forcing but prime wind shear and potential instability in the warm sector.

More times than not with these conditional setups not a lot happens. I think a lot will depend how quick the convection this morning gets out of the picture

Tough call for redevelopment this afternoon. Im calling for spotty, but strong, redevelopment mid to late afternoon into this evening... with main area of concern south and southeast of STL.

The fog this morning over on the east side of the river was oatmeal thick! I have a feeling the enhanced area on the SPC guidance from overnight may be either completely cut or moved further south and east with the next update. The area to our North shouldn't change much though.

Going to be tough for the airmass to recover...rain socked in all the way back towards Joplin. HRRR still develops the strong batch SE of I-44 this afternoon/evening but I agree with you. This is a bigger general area of rain and storms than expected and there won't be a lot of time/space for things to recover.
