Lowes parking lot in lake st louis was indeed packed all the way to the street. I had to repair some water damage and i had everything i needed except for wome wood filler. Neighbor had some but it was dried up. I felt pretty foolish going in there for wood filler but wanted to take advantage of the warm dry wx knowing wet wx was soon going to make a return. I do consider water remediation essential but alot of ppl in there doing elective projects. Another neighbor of mine works at ofallon lowes. I toyed with the idea of having him just bring some back after shift, but i wanted to get it wrapped up. Hopefully they wont remember me as "that guy" that doesnt respect isolation rules, bc i do. I have been putting off projects until this fall when hopefully the isolation gets gradually lifted.

Would be cool to see and maybe our biggest snowfall of the "winter". Did you get to interview in Miami before this mess really got going?

Would be cool to see and maybe our biggest snowfall of the "winter". Did you get to interview in Miami before this mess really got going? No, they put it on hold until this calms down. It sucks, but I also wouldn’t want to leave a job where I’m getting paid with so much uncertainty. Hospitals are taking a financial beating with no elective surgery right now, and it remains to be seen how they will respond in the medium term with different projects being cut or done internally. Long story short, I’ll be in Chicago for a while longer unless something dramatically changes (vaccine). Lease is up in June, so hoping for some Covid related deals.

I totally get that. I started a new job in July, and so far, so good, but it sucks being one of the low men on the totem pole. Being employed by a local government helps with job security, but when they run out of capital projects to cut, my neck could be on the block. Hope it never comes to that. Good luck with your career endeavors!

Need a link to that produce market. You all have given location info but not a name. Need fresh produce. What are people doing? Not eating out, cooking a lot more. As an empty nester with my youngest back from college, I’m back to worrying about dinner every night. All of those parents who had young kids in activities and ate on the run, are now at home. And we’re doing things like bored baking. Finding yeast for bread now is like trying to find toilet paper.
If you want to do home projects, Walmart/Home Depot can ship a lot of stuff to you. Sherrington Williams does curbside pick up if you need paint. My husband is painting the living room, with more projects to come. Delivery from the former is delayed but eventually happens.
I ordered a cheap trellis and potting mix from the Po, got a few plants online. If you want plants, I have experience with buying from Annie’s Annuals (CA), Forestfarm, and Bluestone Perennials Nice well packed plants. If they don’t have what you need, go online to Dave’s Garden Watchdog and check out a business before you order so that you don’t get screwed. There are folks who produce slick catalogs but send crappy plants. Site has been around for decades where home gardeners review online retailers. I’ve never ordered without doing this. I can vouch for the three sites, and have physically been to Annie’s nursery three times. Great plants.
Call around and see if local nurseries deliver mulch in bulk near you. It’s about the same price, but not bagged. Just throw a tarp on the driveway and they’ll make an appt to dump it there. I used to haul big bags myself and then discovered this. Totally no contact. Not expensive.
If anyone wants to offer up info re local businesses who are still offering goods available for pick up, let us know. It’s darn near impossible to know what’s out there if anything except restaurants.

Deerkiller’s place is The Fruit Stand. He’s off Manchester in Manchester. Look up “The Fruit Stand” on FB. His produce looks great and the prices even better! www.facebook.com/thefruitstand/

Ilnois, ty for the link! Just ordered some yeast. And to you d, ty. I think that if we share this info, we can help each other minimize in store shopping. Even curbside is better if you can’t get delivery. Trying to show that we can do more, and that we can still distance ourselves.
I’ve been inside a business three times in the past six weeks, and only once ‘shopping’.

Here is some preliminary (and incomplete) survey info for the long track tornadoes produced by those beast supercells in Mississippi on Sunday. Note that the first tornado was up to 2 miles wide!

Sounds like the Bassfield tornado may even end up wider than 2 miles. Hard to believe it wasn’t an EF5 but it all comes down to what the tornado hits

Wasn't the El Reno TX tornado 2.6 miles wide and an Ef3?

Wasn't the El Reno TX tornado 2.6 miles wide and an Ef3? A mobile radar measured 300mph winds in the El Reno tornado but the EF scale only uses damage caused to determine its rating. Kind of a flaw in the scale
