Photo by Paul M. Smith. Pulled from his FB page. "Finally got a nice set of clear images showing Neowise and sprites last night 7/18/20 . This was from Northern Oklahoma at a quiet little cow pen I like to shoot from. Storms were running through central Kansas into Nebraska and I think these sprites were up by the state border. Amazing how big the blue ion tail is on the comet- streaking out of frame here. I had a little light panel lighting up the windmill- it looks kind of surreal as it was spinning so fast in the wind. The light pollution adds some noise that I have a hard time cleaning up, but still extremely happy with the results."

Tidbit from the WPC discussion for the area
The main concern over the next several hours will be showers and thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall rates tending to repeat over the same area given the rather parallel nature of the mean flow relative to the front. PWs across the region are quite high and generally in the 1.8 to 2.2 inch range with the higher values over areas of southern IL. This coupled with the strong instability fields will favor extremely heavy short-term rainfall rates of as much as 2.5 inches/hr.
In regards to the model guidance, the signal from the HRRR and HREF based guidance is for as much as 3 to 4 inches of rain to fall going through late evening, with isolated heavier amounts of 5+ inches where repeating cell activity occurs. This will favor a threat of some flash flooding as a result.

According to the lightning that line of storms going through Jeffco is 2 miles to my North and doesn't look like it's going to Sag South anytime soon. 7 miles west of DeSoto I probably should be 9🤣🤣

Lol The boundary is definitely south of 70...you could see it on hi-res radar. But we'll get the elevated storms into this evening at least...and soaking rains. The stronger, more surface based storms are down further S along 44.

Thunder, some visible lightning. Hammering rain. Power went completely out, and then came back on. Pretty impressive.
