amarillo tx has had 11.5 inches of snow, 7 inches above normal. due north, bismark, nd checks in with 4.9, which is nearly 10 inches below normal. definitely a southern pattern in play here. wldnt surprise me if memphis gets action eventually with this pattern. The exact opposite of what folks were thinking in a Nina pattern... we'll see if it persists into J F M...

18z hrrrrrrr drops an inch in the metro 12z HRRR was more robust on snow accumulation than the 18z HRRR. It's going to be interesting if models go poof, hold course or beef up the potential on the 00z suite.

Total snowfall map wise the 18-GFS and 18-3km Nam could be another candidate for a Corner T-Shirt. The 18-12km Nam gives us a little love. Hopefully, we see meteors tonight and snow tomorrow night.

NAM hinting at some enhanced banding tomorrow night.

NAM coming in now looks great so far , nice shield of light snow for the area tomorrow night. It looks like the best run yet. I think the meso models will continue to out perform the globals on this storm

Remember lots of dry air to overcome. Nam always overdoes precip. I take it as showi g some snow showers and flurries. Maybe a very light dusting. It it and other hires models show it ievery run thru tomorrow afternoon, it may be good.

Yea dry air or not it’s definitely shows way more than flurries. I still think this is 1” or less for everyone, with most only getting 1/2” . But as others pointed out 1/2” of partially melted and refrozen snow could definitely make for some slick roads on Wednesday morning if it does end up snowing.

0Z NAM follows suit with the 18Z. 21Z RAP looking good too. Maybe we can sneak out something afterall? Sure nothing to write home about, but odds of at least seeing some snow maybe even a brief period of moderate snow is there right along I-44/I-55.

06 suit looks decent but this looks and reminds me of the 100 systems that we will and will and just end up with a good dusting.

06 suit looks decent but this looks and reminds me of the 100 systems that we will and will and just end up with a good dusting. It's a crapshoot with the dry air...if it's overwhelmed early we could get an inch or two...if not, we could get almost nothing.

Feels like coldest morning yet.

Glenn is talking about something significant on Dec 24. we are in a nw flow in the upper ams in that timeframe. as active as the flow is, any system isnt off the table. even the 06 gfs has a little system in iowa. but 9 or 10 days out is unlikely to resemble any model output today. may hv been more of the point of nothing significant between now and christmas eve maybe?

06z gfs was decent but the short range models are looking worse, namely the HRRR. I think someone will end up with an inch or two if they get lucky under one of the bands.
I'm ready for a real storm to track.

1/2” for most if it saturates up to an inch if any meso bands can develop. Definitely enough to cause slick roads tomorrow morning

I had a low of 20* 7 miles west of De Soto. I have noticed that the SREF Plumes have steadily increased the 'mean' total snowfall over the last 6 runs. Granted, no laughing, the latest total is around 3/8".....but the trend is what I am pointing toward. It certainly looks like there could be some issues on the roads Wed. morning. Combining several days of cold plus an overnight event....= sneaky. I will make a bold prediction that I will have to drive my wife to watch the grandkids tomorrow morning.

12z NAM still showing a weak TROWAL developing across IL tomorrow AM...thinking at least the eastern counties could see an advisory level(2") snowfall from this as better quality moisture gets wrapped in.

Looks like RadarScope is having some issues this morning. I can’t get any radar sites to load and others online are reporting the same problem
