so this was a case where the models showing the stripe of snow along the back edge of cold front was accurate this time. I know it doesn't happen very often. i also seen a post from CO
NWS that a -50* temp was recorded this morning in CO somewhere.

At the onset of precipitation, a wintry mix is possible, with
sleet being the more predominant precipitation type. After onset,
precipitation will transition to predominantly freezing rain.
Limiting factors for ice accretion continue to be warm water
droplets thanks to temperatures of of +5 to +10C in the warm nose,
surface temperatures starting out near freezing before warming,
and relatively high precipitation rates. However, recent guidance
trends have slowed the retreat of the colder surface air, which
has increased ice accumulations further south than previously
forecast. Accumulations of around 0.1 inches will be possible
west of the Mississippi River in Missouri, with lesser totals
eastward from the river in Illinois. Central and northeastern
Missouri still look to be the prime locations for higher
accumulations, with values approaching 0.2-0.25 inches. This
colder trend, if it continues, could lead to more widespread
accumulations of 0.25 inches or more in this part of Missouri and
will have to be watched closely.

Soundings and FRAM output support some high end icing in the metro. Hard to put much trust in that model though
