50-60 degree ground temps the longer the better Good soil moisture No hard freezes Some say the more snow the more shrooms you find... Pretty much this. Ideally, frequent bouts of warm, soaking rain followed by cooler, sunny weather once the soil temps are in range. That brings on multiple flushes which we saw in 2008, 2009, and 2014...2019 wasn't half bad, either. Warm and windy with low RH...red flag conditions...are the kiss of death for morels. And hard freezes.

12z ukmet has a 984mb low near the boot heel Wednesday night.
That has to be a rare outcome.
Goes full blizzard mode for Iowa and northwestern Illinois.
Fascinating storm evolution that has some support from euro ensembles and the 00z ggem (12z ggem is on team gfs).

I hope this doesn't encourage fools to drive into tornadoes in hopes of getting a new vehicle.

I don't know if you'll be able to see this or not but the Post has an interesting article about the storm spotter class. Included are lots of damage pictures from the Amazon warehouse. Storm spotter article

Definitely a continued signal for a decent shot of cool weather around the 3rd-4th with an amplification of the N stream across the E US.

Temp down to 32* this morning. I thought it would be colder after being 35* at 11pm last night. Looks like tommorow mornings temp at been raised to 30* from the 27* forecast from yesterday. Looks to be cloudy which hopefully will help more. Peach trees have exploded with buds the past week. We covered some early plantings that have poked through the ground. Hopefully no harm done.

Managed to not get a frost this morning. Really surprised. 28* here and only very light frost...think the wind stayed up a bit overnight and saved us.

The word of the day...Pujols. Ownership hoping nostalgia is worth the same gate revenue as getting another quality starting pitcher. Everyone will be happy on Opening Day, but by June people will be ready to give him the Matt Carpenter treatment. I guess we can all dream on the extremely improbable outcome of Waino getting 200 wins and Albert getting 700 homers and then heading off into the sunset with Yadi.
