My temp says 91 and I thought that was a bit too warm so I hit the point forecast and it says Farmington was 81* 30 minutes ago. I am sure my driveway and walkway to the front door plays a big part in that.

I would agree with that more than 91. I would love to stay there and not get warmer.

Thanks for the well wishes! I'm very sore today but able to hobble around a bit. Going to be a while before I'm back in action...
It will be interesting to watch convective trends up north this evening...the EC has been incredibly insistent for days that an MCS will develop across the WI/IL border and propagate southward which is supported by thickness contours/shear vectors and a strong pool of nocturnal instability across MO. There isn't much if any support for this in other modeling, but there is a signal for "sunrise surprise" convection developing along and E of the river. Other than that, it looks quiet until the weekend with the ridge overhead and steamy hot.

I believe 90F is the high today which is just shy of the record. The heat index made it to 98F.
If we're lucky me might hit a HI of 100F tomorrow though. Keep your fingers crossed.

Some of the CAMS are trying to do something similar tomorrow night into Thursday. It's definitely something that's on the back of my mind... but I'm not ready to start messing with the forecast yet. If I see the MCS locked and loaded up north... then I'll need to reconsider.

Looks like the EC was way overbaked with the storms up north...not really surprising with the ridge flexing overhead.

Any ornithologists in the group?
We have a female cardinal behaving strangely. A few weeks ago she would periodically fly against our back sliding glass door for several minutes at a time She pecks the glass and then flies straight up and down with her wings impacting the glass did this a for a few minutes, would go away for a bit and then return and pick up where she left off. She did this several times a day. She did this intermittently, stopping for a day or two, then picking back up.
Monday of this week she's started doing the same thing at our front door, which has a large amount of cut glass. The same thing alternating between pecking the glass and flying up and down with her wings periodically impacting glass.
Yesterday she started alternating between the front and back doors as well as doing the same thing to the window on the side of our house. She continues to do the same thing this morning. She'll stop for a while and I'll hear her on a nearby perch singing her call. She's been doing this for nearly an hour, alternating between the front and back doors and the side window.
And to answer the obvious question we don't have any birds in the house. No, canaries, parakeets, minah birds or anything of that sort. Heck, we don't even have any goldfish.
What the heck is this bird doing??

She's seeing her reflection in the glass and thinks it's another female. This is prime breeding season for most songbirds, so they are more agitated and aggressive towards other birds.

Male birds will often see their reflection as another bird and attack it to defend their territory. It is especially common in cardinals, mockingbirds, and robins. This goes for windows, mirrors and other highly reflective surfaces. It is most common in the spring but some birds will do it all year round as they are very territorial. Covering up the windows is an option, but it will usually abait after mating season as the male will not longer feel threatened by its phantom rival. Put a couple strips of painters tape on the window. Helps them to realize its a window.

We've had a female cardinal also. It was only at one window at the south end of the house. She would sit on the window sill and peck. We have also had large bright orange chested Orioles trying to hang on the hummingbird feeders. Quite hilarious to watch. They seemed to have bullied away the hummingbirds.

Might need to watch the heavy rain potential next week with the stalled/wavy boundary setting up across the Ohio Valley/Midwest and a rather sustained SW flow into it. Looks pretty active after Friday...and luckily, cooler.

Also some signs in ensemble and deterministic models that severe weather potential may get going in the second half of May. So far it's been pretty quite for our area on the year in that department.

I started watching Ryan Hall, Y'all on YouTube, and I get sucked into it. Have to force myself to turn it off to go to sleep. There are definitely more severe events this year than there has been in the past couple years. I just hope my bad luck doesn't keep away all of the good storms.

92° with a dp of 73°. Up here, that's ridiculous almost any time of year. Feels like the worst of July.
