Was a 'hail' of a sale @ Schnucks Belleville West during my shift. It was like the storm that never ends. Nice little surprise on a busy Saturday night. Saw hail up to dime sized and it did it for a couple brief episodes, but mostly pounding heavy rain with very large drops almost flash flooding the parking lot again. Glad I parked in the back today. Rain seemed last over an hour with a few rumbles but not as much as I would of expected.

Ongoing downpour of hail here in Perryville. Mainly pea size to blueberry size, a few dimes. Enough to partially coat the ground in places.

Very intense lightning as well. Just had one hit about 100 yards away in the field while I was watching the hail. Puckered me up a bit!

"Never trust the NW flow" Heard that many times on Channel 2 weather segments. I still hear Dave on his radio spots occassionally. I like how the NWS added verbiage about how storms in western MO this morning could limit our severe weather this afternoon. I know it is mentioned on here alot about morning rain/clouds directly over our region affecting our severe possibilities. Is there more 'weight' to storms over western MO affecting severe chances or having rain/clouds directly overhead?

It's looking like debris cloud and drier air is going to limit destabilization along/N of 70 today, so the Metro may be spared a greater severe risk. But that complex may take aim across the S counties with a wind threat.

Models pretty much consistent on developing more storms in and around the metro around 3 to 4PM and lasting till around 7PM, so still a chance and risk, but as indicated it will be more widely scattered then farther south which could see a mini derecho or squall line as they have been.

Looks like a meso low is working eastward just south of 70. Would imagine that will kick off some storms around the immediate metro later. It’s gotten pretty unstable around here with the morning sunshine.

Area Forecast Discussion...Updated National Weather Service Saint Louis MO 1105 AM CDT Sun May 15 2022
.MESOSCALE DISCUSSION... Issued at 1045 AM CDT Sun May 15 2022
Key Messages...Chances of severe storms in southeast Missouri to increase this afternoon.
Technical Discussion...We continue to watch a cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms in south-central Missouri. These storms are expected to continue moving east/southeast into this afternoon. Forward-propagating Corfidi vectors veer slightly over the next 6 hours to more of the northwest. A more west-east movement though is possible if it bows out more and causes it to pivot a bit cyclonically. All that being said, the cluster of storms should reach southern Crawford/Reynolds/Iron between 1800-1930 UTC. Damaging winds are the primary threat with this activity.
Latest surface shows the cold front is currently located from near KJEF>>KSPI as of 1600 UTC. This boundary has pushed further southeastward in part due to a strong meso ("bubble") high in western Missouri due to the ongoing convection. By early afternoon, the boundary is likely to be near a KVIH>>KCMI line. Isolated to scattered storms may develop along the cold front moving to the southeast, but the amount of coverage is uncertain. There will be at least moderate instability, but convective debris from storms in south-central Missouri should at least abate available instability somewhat.

Yep back to marginal risk/slight risk border per the 11:30-12PM CDT Update. Probably will manage some storms but any severe looks low but non-zero.

Pretty sure I'm seeing some mammatus above me 7 miles west of DeSoto from the storms down in Osage Beach and Lebanon. Out in the garden again to plant some stuff and putting covering around tomatoes and peppers. The overcast is certainly helping from our perspective of working in it.🤔🤔

Gust front just went through easily 45 mile an hour gust not a drop of rain yet I was out on the driveway looking to my South looking at the Leading Edge of this storm and when I turned around to walk to the South Southwest is right when the gust front hit and I was plastered in the face by all the pollen that was on my roof I'm still coughing. There was so much pollen being blown around it look like fog. Must have cooled off at least 25 degrees but still not a drop of rain yet. Just heard my first Rumble of Thunder and it sounded pretty close.

Has everyone been seeing the normal amount of honey bees when they've been out? I have seen maybe one or two this whole spring so far in my garden. Our blackberries and strawberries would be loaded with them as soon as they started flowering last 2 years just haven't noticed any this year
