GFS takes 700 almost right over us. Brings surface low to a screeching halt near bootheel and shuts down the NW half of the viewing area.

GFS is extremely close to burying us in cement. 12-18 inches in southwest Missouri. 4-8 inches for the metro.

These would be some hand grenade sized flakes

That would be an absolute Defo Death band moving through. Goodness.

The GFS just gave us the Palm Sunday Storm... in January.

NAM is showing some mid-level Fgen developing Sun AM that works up 44/55 through the Metro...might be enough to get the ground covered if there's snow growth. Models are still trying to close off a mid-level low as the phasing occurs just to the west. Still worth keeping an eye on.

A historic run from the GFS 5 days before the event. What could go wrong.

I have been reading and enjoying this board and the previous board from the epic ice storm of November 2006. I appreciate all the discussion and hope we see some snow soon!!

New data looks more interesting than the sheared mess from yesterday.

The cobb map from that GFS run has 30" in Springfield MO and 20" in STL Kuchera looks a lot more reasonable for the metro.

The cobb map from that GFS run has 30" in Springfield MO and 20" in STL Kuchera looks a lot more reasonable for the metro. This will be a much more March-like system. VERY wet snow.... so LSRs will probably be 1:10 at best I would think.

And unlike the pre-Christmas snow... this will be really pretty up in the trees and such.

We rarely cash in from high ratios here anyways. When we do get a high ratio event, the dry air eats it alive or it's so windy it gets shredded to crumbs. All evens out. Give me 1:10 with the beautification over the former. Plus, those snowballs that fall from the sky as precip switches from R to S is the best.

Would love to have a decent snow to let the dog run around in, and I don't have to watch railcams to see the snow.
