I’m guessing the waves were coming in just off perpendicular- creating the wave pattern on the shoreline.

Tomorrow locally looks very conditional on morning convection and if we’re able to get any forcing for cells to fire. The front won’t actually come through here until early Wednesday morning. Overall, I’m not that impressed with the setup for the metro and points south and east. Northeast MO looks ripe though for discrete cells with significant severe possible.

Thanks John and coz for contemplating my question! Rip tides were certainly a thing while we were there, and I think the direction would support coz… Thanks again. P.S. I didn’t mean to kill the board

Guess since this board is pretty quiet not a lot is expected in the Metro?

Today's severe threat is about as conditional as it gets for the Metro region. It doesn't look like the steeper lapse rate plume will make it this far S/E so instability is marginal and forcing for ascent is pretty weak with no surface boundary nearby. If storms can develop they will pose a severe threat, but it's questionable that they do until late tonight once the front approaches.

Sooooo tempted to get some summer veggies in the ground... I put 40 hills of potatoes in after work yesterday. Onions going in today. Warm weather stuff probably next week after this cool snap.

Seeing a lot more sun than I thought we would. I envisioned a lot of cloudiness and convective debris. It may not matter in the end given the dynamics are a bit displaced from the region, but am wondering if instability will get a better than expected boost from the sun.

I picked some radishes and spinach this morning. Lettuces are coming in good. Have tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in pots ready to be transplanted. I was thinking the same thing about getting them in the ground after this weekend, which traditionally is still early.

Guess there's enough lift and minimal CINH to get storms going after all. Looks like a noisy afternoon...

Tornado watch issued I wasn't expecting that but haven't been really paying attention. I just noticed that the rain chances seem to keep getting lowered some, at least where I'm at 7 miles west of DeSoto. Don't want no tornadoes here.🙏🙏

These storms are really struggling as they head into IL with the weaker lapse rates...nothing but sprinkles here in Brighton

Well that de-escalated quickly. Storms are running into less instability and a stronger CAP as they go east.

"40 hills of potatoes"....sorry I don't understand that unit of measure. can you enlighten me on how much a hill of potatoes is? or did you plant potatoes on 40 hills, LOL? **Edit** I guess I have something to learn: www.wikihow.com/Hill-Potatoes I don't ever recall using that term when we planted potatoes in our backyard garden. I thought it was as simple as cutting eyes and putting them into the ground.

We always did elevated rows for potatoes. “Long hills” I guess lol.
I’m planning on getting my summer garden in weekend after next. First time I’ve had one in 6 years after having one every year before that.

Absolutely nothing here today. A little something to have knocked the dust down while mowing would have been nice.
