watered and mowed early but it's still miserable. The breeze is glorious out here...the sun, not so much!

Happy Dad's day, Dads!
Really cool looking MCV near KDVN this afternoon with a huge, arcing outflow around it(or maybe a gravity wave?)

Models are trending stronger with the ridge that's going to retrograde into the Midwest this week which means less influence from the tropical system in the Gulf here. The good news is that the low-level flow is E/SE for much of the week, pulling Atlantic airmass in and keeping the torch at bay...but precip chances don't look as impressive now. Our best bet is tomorrow and Tuesday with that subtle wave and moisture stream off the Gulf.
It's a bit concerning how quickly the jet retreated northward over the past several weeks...it seems like the La Nina is starting to gain traction now. If there's not a significant pattern change soon, it's going to turn hot and dry quickly with the drought building back in like last summer. Ensembles do show the flow turning more out of the NW later in the month, but it's not a very amplified pattern and fairly zonal overall.

That's a healthy bow echo head across northern IL towards Chicago. Meanwhile, odd looking ground clutter moving across the KLSX super res 1 radar. Not sure if it's moisture flow or what.

Yeah, they've got a special marine advisory out for the outflow winds. Those are convective streamers on LSX radar...looks like a few small showers are trying to develop.

Well... Tapatalk pretty much backed me in to paying for VIP. The performance of MTWSTL on Tapatalk free had pretty much been crippled for me the last couple of months. Page load times of over a minute plus the 5 second full page pop-up ads. That all mysteriously disappeared the instant I paid for VIP.

I think that may be the first 80+ degree low of the season

We could see a pretty good string of consecutive 90+ days. We are already up to 5 and odds look good of at least 7 more.

I think that may be the first 80+ degree low of the season Yeah. The low this morning at KSTL was 81 F. The record is 80 F from 2018. We have to wait and see what happens this evening before declaring a record. The NBM is saying it will be 80 F at midnight tonight so it will be close.

I would think it won't be close unless there's a storm over or near Lambert or an outflow.

Is all the rain in the plains and across Minnesota going to start causing river level problems for us? Or is there still some wiggle room in the river volumes?

I spent about a quarter of the day yesterday deburring and painting the edges of the outbuilding roof. To keep this weather related, it was hot.🥵🥵 The gutter men came at 6:30 this morning and they were done at 7:30. them guys are quick. It was cool this morning but the roof was pretty wet from the dew. Now I know why the gutter guy does not do sheet metal work.🤔🤔🤪🤪 I was hoping to get some rain just to see how well they did with keeping the water from splashing at/into the doorways. Looks like I might have to wait a little bit on that. It was a beautiful evening this evening seven miles west of DeSoto.
