70 to 75 seems like a good bet Friday with tons of sun and favorable wind direction. Upper 70s may be pushing it.

AHAHAHAHA Last few runs of the GFS have completely lost the "cold snap" and all of our fantasy snow. Shunts the cold off to the northeast now, keeps us moderating between 60s and 40s through the end of the run - February 17th. This winter's done - stick a fork in it. Meh. Looking at one model for anything days away is a fools errand. Look at ensembles and that will give a much better idea usually. Seems like they want to build a ridge out west as time goes on bringing colder air down. It won't be fast and it won't happen all at once. But WI ter is not over. It's Feb 1.

I think we will get one more arctic cold snap before spring what do you all think? I wouldn’t call it an arctic snap like January. I’d go with an arctic influenced cold snap. I would call it a 'we have no clue what going to happen, or where it's coming from since it's over 10 days away' snap

We've had many gut punches the last few winters with storms in our wheelhouse at the right time of the season only to produce what we have today. It's annoying.
February does look better as we go one here..after the 1st week especially. I'll 1 up maddogs precognition and say st louis will see a 4 inch plus in February or early March. So..probably not

Best of luck Labrat sending prayers and good vibes for your Mom. Looks like this winter is over unless we can get another arctic shot in mid February. Annoying that we only have about a week or so where it is cold enough for accumulating snowfall. What? Lol. Snow can accumulate for quite sometime yet. Looks pretty sure that cold is coming back in 10 to 15 days or so.

Yeah, I've lost any respect I had for JB. He has ties to Principia Scientific International which is an anti-science website run by John O'Sullivan whose past is questionable at best and disturbing at worst. Be advised...should you google for him you may find material that is NOT work or school appropriate and could get you into trouble if opened. If I were JB I'd have had my name removed from O'Sullivan's "select members" list long ago. But the thing that really threw up red flags for me were his numerous questionable (and frankly absurd in some cases) statements regarding the regarding weather/climate. There was an interview he did for the media back in 2011 in which statements were made indicating a gross misunderstanding of the two most basic and fundamental laws in all of science...the law of conservation of mass and the law of conservation of energy. He also denigrates the results of radiative transfer models (like the RRTM) likely without knowing that they are essential pieces of the GFS, ECMWF, etc. which forms the core of the services he offers on his own website. And his claims that scientists have been hiding a significant increase in volcanic activity since the 1980's defies credulity. And I almost forgot about that awful color table he used on his temperature charts... agree to all. he has beclowned himself lol

First...it's a real thing winters have gotten more intermittent and shorter around d here..in many places. I remember cold and snow as a kid but I also wearing shorts at times in December or Jan or Feb. We've jad a few decent ones in the last decade or 2 for sure. But the periods of cold and snow are shorter and less frequent. Second...no one is ready for summer "after tomorrow". It's Jan 21. C....Blow torch to start feb? Maybe..but it's Jan 21. And it likely won't last long. Ok. Enjoy the ice.
