For those who bashed me for alluding to this winter as potentially being a 70s type thing I accept your apologies. All I see now are posts and articles comparing this winter to some of the worst in the 70s. I saw early season storm track and just had a feeling. They don't call it patterns for nothing. Some patterns are harder to shake than others. This one has hung on and made comebacks.
And yet it wasn't like the winters of the 70s. You cannot accept what it not given to you. Well, I guess you can, but technically, that's stealing.

Ok folks, here is the deal on the Chat Room. From the last talk, we are going to attempt my coding. Now I want to let you all know this is a Proto Type of what COULD be. We are going to use my chat room. The MiRC room will still be active. It is not going anywhere. If this room don't seem to work, then I will work on if I can incorporate MiRC site on here. So with that said, it will be up to you, the members to see how well this will work. All the Mods will have the ability to ban and get rid of riff raft.. I am also going to switch the room to where you have to register on the server to post. PLEASE use you handle on THIS board (Or as close you can get to it, if it is taken). You can customize you account as you seem fit. But remember! This is Chris's board, and if he says NO, that is where it stands! Also, everything you express on the chat does NOT represent what Chris or other mods or members, NWS think. I remember a tag a while back that said "Think Before You Post". Use this warning. If you think Snow was a Hard butt on Moderation, I am worst. Ok, now with all the formalities out of the way... We will see if it works. Check back in a day or so For the purpose of clarity, when you say the "MiRC" chat room, are you referring to our chat room on Quakenet on IRC? mIRC is a chat client to interface with IRC (just don't want to confuse people). Or, are you referring to another chat room? While #stlweather on quakenet has many people from here, it is separate from this forum. Just trying to avoid confusion. Thanks!

Does anyone know if there is an app for I phone for the chat? Sorry, I don't. I will ask around in chat, though, and see if anyone knows of one.

If you’ve already enabled the new Google Maps but want to return to the classic Google Maps temporarily, you can return to classic Google Maps for a single session.
Go to the new Google Maps. Click the Help button in the bottom right corner. Click Return to classic Google Maps. The classic Google Maps will remain enabled until you navigate away or close the tab. The next time you open your browser tab, the new Google Maps experience will be automatically loaded.
Switch back to the old version permanently
If you want, you can also go back to the old version:
Go to the new Google Maps. Click the Help button in the bottom right corner. Click Return to classic Google Maps. Click Yes in the notification bar that appears.

In the original invite there should be a link at the bottom for Classic Maps If not, Top right should be a blue 'Help & Fedback' expander.
Or you can can click the gear icon.
If none of those work, please let me know and I'll re-send the invite and try to work through it with you. I think the "Use Classic Maps" can be easy to miss. Also make sure you're signed into google in order to edit.

Some of you may remember the St Louis WX Blogger Map I created some years ago. I would like to open it up to collaboration so people can update their data (and, ideally, put in your past data, too, if you have it). It's a nice repository for historical data and interesting to look at all the area-wide information. You can also post photos. If you would like to collaborate, please PM a gmail address and I will send you an invite. - Choose "Classic Maps"
- Find your pin on the map - you may already be on there, or in the general vicinity
- Customize your icon if you wish and update your data
- Careful editing! It's really easy when you "grab" the map to inadvertently pick up someone else's pin and accidentally move it; if that happens you will be given a message "You have changed the location" and you are given an "undo" option. If you are unsure, please click undo!

I just wanted to make sure people are aware that there is a chat room, #stlweather on quakenet. It has been around for 7 or 8 years and there is generally at least a few people there, even in the bad season. The easiest way to get there is to have the chatZilla plug-in on Firefox or Seamonkey. Add the Quakenet server and once logged in to , just type /j #stlweather, and you're in. You can also just go to quaknet.org directly and go to webchat - here is the link - and type in your user name and the room name: stlweather. AndChat is a free Android app that interfaces very well with the chat for mobile (some of us also use it on our Kindles). I know Lizard has very graciously offered to build a chat room that is connected to the forum and that will probably be a very good thing for those who don't want to go through the process of joining the established chat. In the meantime, just wanted to let people know it's there. Also happy to help with any issues or problems people may be having trying to access the chat.
