I believe it's an admin setting that locks the post after 30 minutes.I've never locked one of my own posts. To prevent old posts from being maliciously edited. It's a thing that happens.

Are you still having this problem? The edit button is disabled after about 30 minutes or so on a particular post, but on fresh posts it should be there. It comes and goes (on all devices). One was right after I posted something and noticed a typo. I can't find any reason for this to be happening. Sorry

I no longer have the ability to edit my posts...any ideas why this would suddenly disappear? I've got to the Edit Profile & Settings page->Settings->Posting Default and tried switching between Preview and BBCode button but it makes no difference. No "edit" button in the upper right hand corner. Same on all mobile devices and desktop. Idea? Are you still having this problem? The edit button is disabled after about 30 minutes or so on a particular post, but on fresh posts it should be there.

There have been some movies so bad that I couldn't even watch them all the way through. Perhaps if I were into mind altering substances... However, I think perhaps the absolute worst movie I have watched in recent memory, all the way through, is "2012: Ice Age". That one HAS to win for some of the worst acting I have ever witnessed. I wasn't able to watch Sharknado all the way through.... Can't even imagine the sequel.

Right clicking for spelling options is universal? At least that's what Chrome has lead me to believe. I didn't know it was special to this board. Actually in Fire Fox, it does the same, just not as fancy. It will just bring up a list of words in a drop menu. That's what I'm used to, on every website lol.

Just noticed if you click on the ellipses in the page numbers you get a field you can type in a specific page number. Also, right clicking on a highlighted word will bring up spell check.

Followed by "The Day After Tomorrow"! It was a good Syfy day haha. Oh man...I missed it. That one wasn't actually too bad as far as freezing to death movies go. At least it had good actors in it. The only thing they were missing was Sharknado....an instant classic. However, that didn't fit into the theme of freezing to death movies for the day. LOL Hahaha. Yeah, it did seem to be ice/snow related yesterday.

Right now on Syfy is the movie "Ice Twisters" to be followed by "Snowmageddon." I love watching these bad movies! Followed by "The Day After Tomorrow"! It was a good Syfy day haha.

Oh, I think I just replied to you elsewhere. If you use the direct link from Photobucket, rather than the embed code, it gets rid of the hotlink back to photobucket (if you care about that).

Did anyone post the method to put pics in posts? Is it the same method as the old board? Using the full reply window, just use the insert image button if you have the picture hosted somewhere. If you don't, and it's less than 1MB, you can attach it.

can i post lop of this or just link and let others put in loop No, unless it's an actual video, or an animated GIF, you can't embed those types of things in a post.

Putting video tags around something that's not a video isn't going to do anything.

Every flight I've had the last couple of years, they've announced "please turn off all your electronics and cell phones. All the way. Airplane mode doesn't count!" Except British Airways. They didn't seem to care. That goes to show what I was talking about. If it was really a problem, British Airways jets would be having problems. Cell phones do not effect the plane. I can see that in case of an emergency it would be easier for the airlines people to get your attention. I completely agree. While I certainly don't want people talking on the phone all around me on a flight (which really isn't possible unless using in-flight Wi-Fi) I don't think it's necessary to completely shut down devices during flight.

I know all about the noise that equipment can pick up. I was referring to the phone interfering with an airplane. Funny when i have been in a private plane I have never been told to "turn off" my phone. Every flight I've had the last couple of years, they've announced "please turn off all your electronics and cell phones. All the way. Airplane mode doesn't count!" Except British Airways. and the "interference" is highly debated Well, I do know that cell phones will effect the "Cheaper" equipment. I don't mean JUNK, but the lower end. I give you an example. My wireless mics I have. They are not "Top of the Line" mics. They sound good, and are reliable. But I didn't want to dump a bunch of money into mics that could get dropped by "Over indulging" adults. So I went with a lower end (Not cheap cheap), Wireless mics. I only hand 1 out of the two, I keep the other one for just my use (Mainly so I don't get others germs and beer on mine.). If I get a cell phone near the receiver, it will either send a signal into it making a repeated "Dit, Dit, Dit" sound. Same with cheaper computer powered speakers, and some TVs and Surround sound systems. HOWEVER, I would think in planes they would not have the lower end equipment in there, and should be shielded quite well. At least with the technology we have now. Cell phones for sure cause interference with some equipment, especially audio equipment, and especially GSM phones (AT&T, T-Mobile). This will happen even to the high end audio equipment, you occasionally hear this on network TV when an interviewee forgets to take their phone out of their jacket pocket.

How lazy have we become? It takes soooo long to turn my computer that I can fit in my shirt pocket off and on again. There's GOTTA be a quicker way...lol. I never even knew phones had an "Airplane Mode" till I read it on a FB post that turning it to that will charge your phone faster. I talked to another person that told me it disconnects it from the service, and the reconnects it when you turn it off. Hence thinking it most likely releases the IP addy and reassigns another one. Just my thoughts, not based on anything... That's exactly what it does. It turns off the voice and data radios in your phone, so you are using less power, and your phone is no longer sending or receiving any signals of any kind. Hence the name "airplane mode." This is why I hate it when on airplanes they say you must turn your phone all the way off. Turning it to airplane mode has the same result: no interference.

csnavywx, i may not be totally correct here, but i think that what you are saying is that the sun isn't getting warmer and isn't bringing as much radiation to the earth. Basically the sun's change in radiation isn't that much different from what it has been in the past. Obviously satellites haven't shown a large increase in irradiance over the last century or so. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the whole solar theory is that the sunspots help shield the earth a little bit from galactic cosmic rays, which cause the cooling, through aiding more low level cloud growth. I think that we are talking about two different sides of the same coin. Unless my climate classes were wrong, active sunspot periods increase the solar output, effectively making the sun "brighter," allowing more energy to reach the Earth. Inactive solar periods can be loosely tied to a slight, slight cooling of our climate, but the link is not solid. The current solar cycle has been the least active in many years, which is why it keeps coming up. I'm not sure where the cosmic rays come in there...

Regarding AT&T issues from mobile ( link), I get this about once a day. I have been successful in going to airplane mode, then back, then refreshing the forum page. I've told others to just turn their phone off and on. This sounds like a much quicker fix. Thanks! BTW, if you want to post the tshirt graphics, feel free. I've recouped the money I had in them, so anything else is pure donation to Chris's kettle next season. A quick airplane mode toggle should take care of it. Power off and on takes too long.

The "t" word that rhymes with scorch. Oh, ok...not a word I would use anyway. I still register my protest at The season that shall not be named being a 'bad' word though. The season that shall not be named is the time when we all get our food so we can hole up in the winter and watch the EPIC snows. Can't we have a little fun eh?

Bringing the topic back around, I like the idea of a chat room. Is there a simple way to maybe replace the "help" button at the top with Chat instead? I think would be a nice thing to add. Also, would the chat be a separate page or would it look on something like AJAX? Would we be able to apply the same content filters on it? Would the content be archived in any way? Would we be able to make it access from something other than the site directly? One nice thing about the IRC channel Web setup is that it can be access on a mobile device. I am working on the chat Room, and will present it to Chris and the Mods when I have it ready. Currently, It is my own personal page, and chat room, but can easily be copied over to here, and such. Just a few small modifications. But I just started the hard copy last night, and getting everything lined up. It is a little different then the last time I set one up, being the board programing has changed a little since I did it last. Thanks for putting this together. Let us know when it's ready!

Downloaded the app for Android. Was disappointed it does not have notifications, so I returned it. The app on general was not up to par for what I expected, seeing as its $3. Free maybe, but not for $3.

Which tablet? If all else fails, switch to the BBCode tab and it should be like the old site. This is posted from my tablet. I tried out your suggestion on a couple of posts in the Corner and it worked like a champ. Just have to remember to hit the BBCode tab for each post from the tablet. Wonder if I'll have to do that from my Nexus 4 phone, too, if I don't buy the app. Possibly. You can set your default reply method to be BBCode in your setting if you want. I haven't bought the app yet either, I haven't done any mobile posting yet though. I may cave and get the app depending on how the mobile site works for posting.

I am able to get in with ATT and an iPhone It's not that AT&T iPhones will never work, you just have the highest chances of getting assigned one of the random blocked IPs.

A classic post for everyone to always remember! It is more accurate than even our best forecasts and it happens EVERY time. ================================================== For the newbies: This was posted a long time ago, and it has been recycled several times, but it bears repeating - read with caution, it is a cycle that repeats itself each storm cycle, without fail. It applies to every time there is a possibility of a "significant" snow fall in the Midwest: 1. Someone notices the possibility of a potent storm moving thru the area in 7-10 days. 2. 3-4 days are spent pointing out that off-hour runs are stupid and useless and throwing out any model that doesn't appear to confirm accumulating snow along the I-70 and I-44 corridor. 3. 2-3 days are spent trying to determine what the heck the I-44 and I-70 corridor actually means. 4. During the same period, every registered user askes the handful of posters who actually understand the models how much snow will fall at their nearest cross-street - and they ask 6-10 times after each model run. 5. System will be compared to every big snow event in the last 28 years (I don't think anyone every compares to an event before THE BLIZZARD OF '82 (note all caps)). 6. As the system approaches, people who may (or may not) know what they are talking about post accumulation maps. 7. Each registered user bemoans the fact that the system is missing them by 50 miles. 8. System actually comes on shore, completely throwing all models into chaos. (This is also when terms like "nowcasting" begin to be used and "discos" from other NWS offices begin to show up regularly.) 9. Users again frantically try to determine how much will fall at their cross street. 10. System hits Texas and Oklahoma. Every user gives up hope of seeing any snow at all (24 hours earlier, the models indicated 6-8 inches at their cross-street.) 11. Users try not to use off-color language to indicate their frustration with not getting any snow at all. 12. 95% of users watch in horror as 5% of users begin to post photos of snow actually falling on one of the requested cross-streets. (Does any of the other old timers miss the pictures of Rosie's feet??) 13. System pjazzes to the North/South/East/West and bombs out on someone else. Postings cease. Newbies are addicted...... 14. New system shows up - See #1. Ya' Gotta Love It!!!
