Need a link to that produce market. You all have given location info but not a name. Need fresh produce. What are people doing? Not eating out, cooking a lot more. As an empty nester with my youngest back from college, Iโm back to worrying about dinner every night. All of those parents who had young kids in activities and ate on the run, are now at home. And weโre doing things like bored baking. Finding yeast for bread now is like trying to find toilet paper. If you want to do home projects, Walmart/Home Depot can ship a lot of stuff to you. Sherrington Williams does curbside pick up if you need paint. My husband is painting the living room, with more projects to come. Delivery from the former is delayed but eventually happens. I ordered a cheap trellis and potting mix from the Po, got a few plants online. If you want plants, I have experience with buying from Annieโs Annuals (CA), Forestfarm, and Bluestone Perennials Nice well packed plants. If they donโt have what you need, go online to Daveโs Garden Watchdog and check out a business before you order so that you donโt get screwed. There are folks who produce slick catalogs but send crappy plants. Site has been around for decades where home gardeners review online retailers. Iโve never ordered without doing this. I can vouch for the three sites, and have physically been to Annieโs nursery three times. Great plants. Call around and see if local nurseries deliver mulch in bulk near you. Itโs about the same price, but not bagged. Just throw a tarp on the driveway and theyโll make an appt to dump it there. I used to haul big bags myself and then discovered this. Totally no contact. Not expensive. If anyone wants to offer up info re local businesses who are still offering goods available for pick up, let us know. Itโs darn near impossible to know whatโs out there if anything except restaurants. Facebook.com/thefruitstand

My store has been super busy since this all started. a few people buying less perishable items in large quantities, just in case. But if no one can go out or to school they will end up eating more fruits and vegetables anyhow...
I've talked to several of my produce suppliers and there are no changes in availability or spikes in prices so that's good!
I feel for all those losing hours and paychecks :-(

I'm hearing a lot about being done with this winter I'm not sure why so many feel this way but it's not just on this page I own a seasonal business (farmers market) and usually we don't get busy till it's warmer and this year people have a real desire to get out even cold ugly days people are coming out much more regularly and all talking about how much they are looking forward to spring & planting etc. I to want spring to get here as much as the next guy but I would really like to see another 6+ inch storm or two ;-)
As I'm texting it's thundering here in house springs heavy rain as well

Looks like the heavier rain/convection is going to miss mostly to the NW like it has for the past month or so...really becoming a struggle to get a good soaking rain lately. Hopefully the frontal passage tomorrow will bring a good band of rain through. That stuff in SW mo looks to be building I hope it gets us

First few days of bow season looking a little warm but nothing crazy I'll take mid 80's only hunt till 9-10 am anyhow this time of year and don't even go out till 5 it's usually cooling off by then & I'm in the woods of course plus by a lake Its always windy and a bit cooler...
These next few hot days are crap for keeping Mums and fall plants watered we have to hit them 2x a day this week
Long term it does look cooler on the horizon but a ts or hurricane could alter that real quick

This weeks weather is waaaay better to unload a truck full of watermelons ๐ in...
Last week was brutal I hand loaded & unloaded 24 (600#) bins of south east Missouri watermelons ๐
I'm doing that again tomorrow but On a low humidity 80* day and I'm so happy lol ๐
Today is tomato day I got to go over to central Illinois for a few pallets of local Amish/Mennonite tomatoes ๐
And Other Local goodies!
Hard to believe Halloween (and my season) is over in just about 3 months
Even harder to believe My baby will be 2 years old in September with my 2nd baby due in December
I joined this group way back in 2006 (17yo)... time sure does fly
I'd like to thank you all for putting in the hours to read models and help guide this bunch of weather enthusiasts through each cold front!
I look forward to many many more years of fun! #LetItSnow

Well surprisingly enough the fruit and veggie farmers I deal with across the state are all very pleased with their crops thus far. lots of good peaches ๐ coming in and the Missouri tomatoes ๐
we been getting are incredible already soon enough we will be getting our local melons ๐ and I'll know how the pumpkins ๐ are looking in 6 weeks or so (they are just planting those) all in all not as ban as I thought it would be with all the rain and flooding good news for me and my customers! And as far as the hot weather coming goes, bring it on!!! my store in the only inside farmers market around so it's 68* & sunny every day at my store! Facebook.com/thefruitstand Went fishing ๐ฃ Tuesday in Wellsville Missouri and the amount of flys we encountered was nothing short of plague like thousands and thousands would land on anything and everything (my 1yo daughter spilled some Cheerios and there was a dozen or more flys on each Cheerio in seconds...) this possibly due to the wet year? Or maybe a pig/chicken farm near by? Any word on what the local corn-on-the-cob crop is going to be?ย If any, given the soggy fields.ย Have they even been able to plant? row crop Farmers are having a much harder time with the flooding and heavy rains there will be a big loss this year but the sweet corn will be in this week already had a shot of Arkansas sweet corn it was great!

I kept the seeds but forgot about them until now! there is still time you will harvest September sometime Some of my farmers are still planting to keep up with last season Supply and demand
