Figure we needed a space to ask questions and give out advice about the functions of Proboards. Now some of the suggestions may change depending on what scripts may be put onto the board.
There is a whole slue of scripts that can be added (As I mentioned on the other side). And I have been reading through some of them. I have been making mental notes on ones I think would really help out. But I am holding off mentioning any of them, so we can make a smooth transition. I know (Even though Chris should be enjoying his vacation some where where he comes back as tan as Dave), the mods and Chris has real jobs (Unlike me who is awake with the vampires and zombies), and can only dedicate the time available to the board.
But if you run across something on here that impressed you, that maybe no one knows about, or you found easier to do, post it here. OR if you have a question, post it here. This will free up the actual weather part of the board.
With that said, and I will talk to Chris and the mods on this... Is I would like to see an "On Board" chat room. I know how to set it up, because I had more then 1 in a single board. Now we don't need that here. But I would like to see it made easier to get into chat w/o going through add on for the browser and such. It would be very simple to set up and get to. I would do all the footwork, and programing, all the mods or Chris would have to do is, past the code I send them into the set up room, and boom, it will be open for biz. Once again, this is all pending on their approval. Nothing has been put into motion. But I think it would be really neat for the members to click on the board, then get into chat in just 2-3 clicks. I may even be able to put in Chris's U-Stream. Shouldn't be that difficult. But once again, I am not pulling the trigger on it, till I talk to Chris and the mods, and make sure it is something they want to do.
So with that said, post away!!!

Just noticed on phone, both the app & mobile version of browser, you can't see our locations (status). The desktop version is slow & clunky for me, but I guess during a reporting event, you'd have to go to desktop version to see location.

Downloaded the app for Android. Was disappointed it does not have notifications, so I returned it. The app on general was not up to par for what I expected, seeing as its $3. Free maybe, but not for $3.

Anyone have a suggestion to someone looking for a detailed basic explanation as to how to post oversized pics downloaded to a pc from an iphone? Thank you. I bought the iPhone app for 2.99 just for that purpose. Pics from my iPhone were over 1M, so it was a pain to resize it first, then add attachment. You can take a pic directly from within your new post window & it will automatically resize & post with your text. Or you can select a pic from your camera roll on phone.

What is the name of the iphone app? ProBoards, it was an ad at the top of my screen while on the mobile regular site. Seems to be useful also if you follow multiple boards.

Bringing the topic back around, I like the idea of a chat room. Is there a simple way to maybe replace the "help" button at the top with Chat instead? I think would be a nice thing to add. Also, would the chat be a separate page or would it look on something like AJAX?
Would we be able to apply the same content filters on it?
Would the content be archived in any way?
Would we be able to make it access from something other than the site directly? One nice thing about the IRC channel Web setup is that it can be access on a mobile device.

From what I understand, the board will automatically size the picture to the per-determined size of the forum that the admin(s) set. Now I know there is a Script (Code) that can be added to to global headers that will automatically re-size the picture. But since the board does it, there really isn't no need to have it loading in the background, unless we wanted to set them as thumbnail pictures, to open to full size when clicked.

I am working on the chat Room, and will present it to Chris and the Mods when I have it ready. Currently, It is my own personal page, and chat room, but can easily be copied over to here, and such. Just a few small modifications. But I just started the hard copy last night, and getting everything lined up. It is a little different then the last time I set one up, being the board programing has changed a little since I did it last.

It's actually coming along quite nice. Just trying to remember HTML and Tables and all that.. LOL I know how I want it, just getting it to where I want it at, is the thing.. I may have a somewhat finished look to it by tonight, and I will screen capture it, just so you all can get the feel. And if you see anything visually changed...

Regarding AT&T issues from mobile ( link), I get this about once a day. I have been successful in going to airplane mode, then back, then refreshing the forum page.

I've told others to just turn their phone off and on. This sounds like a much quicker fix. Thanks! BTW, if you want to post the tshirt graphics, feel free. I've recouped the money I had in them, so anything else is pure donation to Chris's kettle next season.

I never even knew phones had an "Airplane Mode" till I read it on a FB post that turning it to that will charge your phone faster. I talked to another person that told me it disconnects it from the service, and the reconnects it when you turn it off. Hence thinking it most likely releases the IP addy and reassigns another one. Just my thoughts, not based on anything...

Just my thoughts, not based on anything... That's exactly what it does. It turns off the voice and data radios in your phone, so you are using less power, and your phone is no longer sending or receiving any signals of any kind. Hence the name "airplane mode." This is why I hate it when on airplanes they say you must turn your phone all the way off. Turning it to airplane mode has the same result: no interference.

and the "interference" is highly debated Well, I do know that cell phones will effect the "Cheaper" equipment. I don't mean JUNK, but the lower end. I give you an example. My wireless mics I have. They are not "Top of the Line" mics. They sound good, and are reliable. But I didn't want to dump a bunch of money into mics that could get dropped by "Over indulging" adults. So I went with a lower end (Not cheap cheap), Wireless mics. I only hand 1 out of the two, I keep the other one for just my use (Mainly so I don't get others germs and beer on mine.). If I get a cell phone near the receiver, it will either send a signal into it making a repeated "Dit, Dit, Dit" sound. Same with cheaper computer powered speakers, and some TVs and Surround sound systems. HOWEVER, I would think in planes they would not have the lower end equipment in there, and should be shielded quite well. At least with the technology we have now.

Cell phones for sure cause interference with some equipment, especially audio equipment, and especially GSM phones (AT&T, T-Mobile). This will happen even to the high end audio equipment, you occasionally hear this on network TV when an interviewee forgets to take their phone out of their jacket pocket.

I know all about the noise that equipment can pick up. I was referring to the phone interfering with an airplane. Funny when i have been in a private plane I have never been told to "turn off" my phone.

Every flight I've had the last couple of years, they've announced "please turn off all your electronics and cell phones. All the way. Airplane mode doesn't count!" Except British Airways. They didn't seem to care.

I can see that in case of an emergency it would be easier for the airlines people to get your attention.

While I certainly don't want people talking on the phone all around me on a flight (which really isn't possible unless using in-flight Wi-Fi) I don't think it's necessary to completely shut down devices during flight.

What is the advantage of "following" someone here? Looked in the help section, but couldn't find anything. I thought maybe it would notify you when that person posts, but doesn't. I reviewed my notifications prefs, but didnt see anything.

That is a newer feature to the board since I last had one.
