Cells have become more discrete/fragmented but still look to be maintaining strength. There was a funnel cloud report out by Owensville

Will there be enough instability for strong storms this evening We should clear out quickly behind these showers and storms allowing for some destabilization to occur

Hrrr is fairly robust with storms this evening across the area. It has performed the best during this mess so I'm going with that.

Haven't looked too closely for this evening/overnight... but that is a pretty good looking shortwave.

Good amount of effective shear out there. Even with the sunshine mixed layer CAPE hasn't rebounded around here. I think we will see some heavy rain tonight but strong/severe storms could be a struggle

I see at least one severe report southwest of Columbia with the next line of storms. I could be wrong, but I think we'll see a weakening trend as the line approaches the metro area. SPC mesoanalysis shows lackluster MLCAPE < 250j/kg and weak shear less than 20kts.

That’s a healthy bow segment out west. Low level winds are feeding right into it to Both of those bowing segments have fairly good rear inflow jets and nice erect updrafts right now. Definitely worthy of severe warnings at the moment.

It amazes me how these storms are bad news out west and they weaken by the time they hit here and then get strong again in Illinois. That arch effect year around!

Got a half an inch of rain in 20 minutes at our station ASOS. Does that count?

It amazes me how these storms are bad news out west and they weaken by the time they hit here and then get strong again in Illinois. That arch effect year around! It is beause the urban heat island also causes dry air over the city proper but the recent rains should overcome that and leave us in a nice soup to let these fire.

When will the drought end? Im concerned about flooding. I think i may put that statement in my signature. I guess the good thing is it hasn't been widespread heavy rain for a long period of time. Been dry time in between allowing the rivers and streams to drop back down. Ground has got to be getting saturated though in some areas now. Hopefully we get a few days break.
