Currently have light to moderate snow coming down. Is this lake effect snow? Just convective streamers coming off the snowfield to the NW.

Snow snakes... that's a new term...I like it. I used it on the air. Thanks BRTNWXMAN!

I also think there is some enhancement from the river as the band over Godfrey is coming right off the Mississippi River further north.

Flurries here. I think this now marks day 10 of seeing snow falling this November. Not a whole lot to show but incredible nonetheless.

Dang, looks like the Monday system will be a cutter as well. Anything that could bring it south?
Looks like cold settles in pretty well after that. Maybe the next one will be a true southern storm and get us. Long way off, but GFS shows this.

GEM still has the makings of a little system further south in the Monday timeframe. That is due to the lead wave on Saturday being stronger and pulling the jet further south as a whole.

Dang it really sucks that we are warming up again before next system! I know it's still very early for us still. But I'm getting greedy! I want all of the snow! Hehe

Yeah. Snowsnakes is a term I've heard for years. Were you people raised on the equator? Lol

Super GFS has the Monday system further south to. There lots of energy and interactions between now and then so expect to see some flipflops and waffles from the models

There's definitely potential for a secondary development after this weekend...the 00z EC develops a wave but doesn't really get it going until it moves away to the NE.
I've seen snow snakes mentioned here before so I can't take credit for it. But glad it was used on air, lol.

All discos have mentioned a stout shot of cold after the Friday system. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Monday system start to trend south.

There is not a strong push of cold air after fridays rain. Low 60s sat and 50s sunday. Not even expected to get below freezing. 40s on Monday means rain.

Met in Chicago hinted at the possibility of another "big snow" next Monday. 18z gfs looks good. No euro support yet though, so hard to give it too much thought. 12z FV3-GFS looked good for STL for what its worth.

cpc has heavy snow threat from n kansas through iowa and wisconsin early next week...and heavy rain over the lower and mid mississippi valley into the OH Valley. this includes stl. rt now main teleconnections should ease into neutral territory during this timeframe then by mid december become positive. this includes epo and nao. based on this, we shld see relatively mild conditions that may take us to Christmas or just prior. i still think the holidays, we will kick over to pure winter that wld take us into january. a change in pattern during this timeframe usually is not as short lived as it is earlier in the meteorological winter, so IMO, things are setting up for a severe stretch of winter ultimately.

Heres the snowfall map from the system yesterday. Look how intense that snow gradient is across eastern Iowa and Northern Illinois. That huge indentation south of Chicago in the snowfield is also rather odd looking Would think it was the NE wind off the 50* lake for that bite off the snow cover
