FOX2 is airing a movie from the 1970s The Longest Yard. Don't know when they showed a movie that old in a long time.

Was able to run a mile at a steady pace today. 3 months (+1 day) to the date since the fracture. I'm surprised how speedy the recovery has been!

Any idea on how much rain we're supposed to get tomorrow? My son's HS baseball team is starting to rack up rainouts.

I hate to be too critical in this case because the environment for severe storms really wasn't all that impressive, but that was a fair amount of severe reports for a marginal outlook and no watches yesterday.

I believe the last time the immediate metro area was included in a TOR watch at issuance time was on 11/05/2017.

They nearly had the whole complex warned at one point too. i.imgur.com/92sPU7v.jpg

It's the enhanced outlooks that I have problems with... Because they are almost always wrong. Frankly… it seems to me that folks are treating enhanced like the used to treat moderate and moderate seems to be treated more like a high risk.

So no one is going to say anything about the Anniversary of the April 22nd "Good Friday" Tornado? Does anyone have video of Fox2's Coverage.

So we have a nice rainy, cool pattern with well-timed warm, sunny days mixed in to set up a nice mushroom season. I found 2/3rds of a pound on nice greys, blacks and a few yellows Friday...all fresh. Now 2 days of near-record breaking low RH and a hot wind today completely wipes out the soil moisture and burns everything that's up. Awesome. If we don't get any rain this week, it's not gonna be good. The bottoms are still holding moisture but the ridge tops are toast.
I can't mentally handle the weather around here during morel season...5 years of this crap is too much. I don't know why it's so chaotic...I guess it's just our latitude and the constant battleground of building heat and lingering cold. We almost never have to worry about these extreme swings when we go to the WI border to hunt...their springs seem waaaaaay more consistent and "normal"...whatever that means.

So, should I plant the herb garden?

So, should I plant the herb garden? I’ve always planted the garden the last week of April. But be prepared for a late frost (I use an old sheet, not touching the plants). I’ve had 2 in the last 14 years the first week of May. Herbs are tricky, as most don’t really like a lot of rain & cool temps.

Big Arch effect going on atm with the rain. Usually comes up 44, looks like 44 is splitting it.

So, should I plant the herb garden? I’m planting next weekend. Four cheap plastic stakes and and old sheet tossed over it to make a tent if there is a problem. Going for it, tired of waiting til consistent warm and then getting hit with high heat. I’m going to err in the other direction this year.

Nothing too Earth shattering here, it is the season afterall, but I think around the turn of the month we are going to start to see an uptick in severe weather across the plains on eastward. The GEFS mean supports this from a broad synoptic pattern recognition point of view and several runs of the deterministic GFS indicate the potential for a portion of a strong mid-level jet to overrun a warm moist boundary layer in the extended range as well. Given the uncertainties at this range it could just as easily amount to little, although that's not really the direction I would lean at this point.

Looks very similar to the pattern we've seen the past couple months...but more juice since we are getting deeper into spring and the true warm season.

its to the point of being outright stupid. The ground just can't hold it anymore. I haven't heard/seen this many people talking about basement leaks in years, the hydrostatic pressure is just overwhelming even sump pump homes.

we for sure need several weeks of mostly-dry (not enough to kill off the young grass from shallow drying out of the soil, just no every-3rd-day all day drenchings -maybe like 1 good rain every 7-10 days for a couple hours with lots of sunny dry times in between).
