Tuesday certainly has that “look” for something potentially impactful. A big cold pool driven MCS plunging into big time summer heat and humidity.

It popped to 90 at airport and 91 at my house as soon as the sun came out. Impressive for so late in the day. 81 at 3 p.m. to 91 by 6 p.m.

I'm tired of this summer. Ready for something else. This continual threat of rain is getting old, and when it rains its 3 to 6 inches at a time. Rivers haven't stabilized nor cleared. It gets close, then there is 6 inches of rain somewhere in the river basin and it jumps up two feet. I have a sneaking suspicion that our winter will be warm and wet, but you never know.

Our river (meremac) down here just last week hit normal summer levels and summer is almost over. Been crazy. It’s helped that my area has been missed by a lot of the recent rains.

That may be quite a storm tomorrow late morning/early afternoon if it makes it here and doesn't slide east.

Heat advisory for St Louis today. Looks like today will be the hottest day instead of tomorrow, with the possible MCS..or at the very least clouds.

Well, I am back in town after getting my son back to school at Xavier...and have some big news (for me) to share. If you look just to the left, you'll notice my avatar has changed! That is because official word came down today that I was selected for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel! I don't know the exact pin on date (it may be immediate)! This is the biggest news for me as a member of the Air Force Reserves. It is very likely the highest rank I will hold as I do not meet the requirements for Colonel... and it would be way too expensive to reach them.
As for tomorrow... looks interesting... but that is about all I have time to comment on today.
Stay cool St. Louis!

Congratulations, Chris!! This is a big promotion. My dad made it to Lt Col in the Air Force and my brother did him one better by becoming a full bird colonel. You have certainly worked hard and earned this!!

These things seem to move further south than forecast so more than likely st.louis is in the cross hairs of the mcs

Satellite showing some agitated CU to the NW... big CAPE and little CAP out there now. Would have to think a few strong storms around the area this afternoon.

Chris, Thought you had said some time ago that promotion was not going to happen. Great to be wrong sometimes. Nobody deserves it more and we are so happy for you.
Congratulations!

(Now, if anyone can show me where exactly the "r" is in Colonel, I'd appreciate it.)

Once in a while the military gets it right, whennit comes to promotions... they definitely got this one right. Congratulations LtCol! Well deserved! What does this mean for your unit? Will you be ATing at SAFB still or do the needs of the AF have you elsewhere?

Take with a grain of salt, but at the end of the Euro run it has a pretty cool airmass moving in. 850s around 12 here, 9-10 in nw mo, around 4 or 5 in MN and ND.
