Accepted a job in Southern Cali. I guess no more snowy winters for me... Congratulations and good luck. You can still get snowy winters in the mountains. On a side note, I was looking at the house I grew up in on Zillow the other day. Seems it had just sold on 8/6/19. I about flipped when I seen the price. It sold for $1.349 MILLION. I believe my folks paid $26,000 in 1960, I was 7 months old. Every house in that neighborhood was $890,000 and up.

We now have TS Dorian in the Atlantic. Could make marginal hurricane status before striking Hispaniola
Congrats on the new job rb1108.

Dorian's intensity forecast is going to be a nightmare probably..well they all are, but particularly with the small size of Dorian. Shear and dry air will affect it more. Something else to keep an eye on is the official track brings it pretty close to Puerto Rico, an adjustment north would be bad news for them, even as a relatively weak system.

St. Louis radar is working this morning. Don't know if they are done with the maintenance or whether this is temporary again.

nice day for indoor work, I guess. Was not envisioning an all day rain this time yesterday when I started a 2 day outdoor project. But it's good to have rain without the threat of flash flooding for a change.

GFS brings the 5400 to touch the lower 48 out in the fantasy periods. Right on cue seasonally. Just can't believe how fast this summer has gone by. Sad.

Rb, wasn't it you that just moved to my subdivision in the past year? Maybe I have my wires crossed. Congratulations on your job. I remember when I was in southern California in August visiting a few years ago....on the 20 minute drive from the airport to my destination the temperature fluctuated quite a bit...I'm talking about 20 degrees. Pretty crazy out there.

The magical thickness layer aloft in the atmosphere to roughly use as a tool to predict the rain/snow line. Hope that helps!

Was not expecting this much rain today. Was expecting more of it to fall in the "late day" period... mainly after 3pm. It was starting to look pretty iffy yesterday am though.
