Holy cow! It is amazing what antibiotics and a good night's sleep can do for strep. I really didn't realize how rundown I was until I woke up this morning and felt great! What a beautiful day. Back to the airwaves Monday morning.

Back to the airwaves Monday morning. I’m so glad you’re feeling better. Don’t overdo it. Take those meds and rest.

While the temp maybe hasn’t been as high in August as it has so far in September......the humidity was way worse in August and felt a lot worse IMO then September.

Some relief in sight for cooler weather showing up towards next weekend and into late month as Humberto moves OTS and the rex/omega block breaks down across the N Atlantic...that should allow the pattern to become more progressive and the central US ridge to break down. But until then, hot weather continues to build this week with the jet staying well to the north.

We had maple coffee this am- to help us enjoy this September hot day when it’s supposed to be 10 degrees cooler! Enough already!

Now I remember why September is my least favorite month of the year...hot, boring weather. But this kind of heat isn't typical, either.

I know we avoid politics here but I hope everyone here sides with the Birmingham NWS.

I know we avoid politics here but I hope everyone here sides with the Birmingham NWS. I personally side with NOAA in saying that at the time uncertainty still existed(at the time, 7+ days) and that a local NWS office(in this case, Birmingham) should not have made such a definitive statement...even though it turned out to be right.

I can see this argument being made. I also draw the line at someone playing sharpie meteorologist, too. A weird situation all around...

In the “don't give up hope “ department I did see a tree in O'Fallon, MO this afternoon that was about half the golden fall color. Was too far away to determine what type of tree.
Hopefully it wasn't heat stress or something that was causing it.

Can’t side with NOAA here. The President’s sharpie map was from the 29th. If he is using that cone for his justification, it makes it worse. His tweet about Alabama, and the Birmingham response, was was on the 1st. The forecast cone was much, much different from the 29th to the 1st. The President was shooting from the hip and wasn’t completely up to date with the projected cone. You can’t rely on 3 day old material if you’re sending out a tweet about where is in the forecast path. I don’t blame Birmingham one bit for what they did.

I hadn't realized there was that much gap between the forecast in question and statements made...as usual, facts were absent in media reports. Anyone else find it odd that this story just now seems to be breaking? Weird, indeed...

NYT just interviewed the NWS there and they are all basically saying "I am Spartacus"

Summer can end as far as I am concerned...this atmosphere today is just rediculous, such a tease Friday and Saturday evenings. This feels like late/mid July but with the sun setting an hour earlier.

It's coming out, and I read a tweet from just a couple days after this stupid crap...that the NWS Birmingham wasn't even replying to Trump. They were replying to phone calls they were receiving from the public. They don't monitor Trump's tweets they said. Basically a coincidence. That aside by the time he showed that dumb map on the 1st the path had changed big time, and AL was nowhere near the path. And yes it was on the news that way.

The NWS Birmingham office posted their tweet "Alabama will NOT see any impacts from Dorian" at 11am on 9/1. Here are the graphics from Dorian that were available to the NWS at the time the tweet was made.
