I have zero doubt We will be at 7” by the lull. O’fallon, Il Hrrr says no lull. Do you guys think this thing will keep backbuilding till the deformation zone sweeps in?

Updated disco at 1137 am. Forecast Totals cut on the nw periphery of the current shield, and may drop wwa in parts of nemo. As chris stated earlier, nw side hasnt been as efficient with accums. Im happy with my earlier post re 1 to 2 imby for the rest of the duration of this storm. I do not expect to see the heavy snow that many of you are reporting, but rather a persistent light to occasionally short lived moderate as the vortex swings through.

A mixed bag of everything here. It keeps changing constantly. Is the changeover going to sag S anytime soon?

There is evidence of that on radar now, so maybe. We are back to extremely heavy snow with massive flakes in N Ste. Gen county. Just amazing. This is like the "hampsterfest" in February last year in Perryville...right there at that transition line.

Rode inside this blueberry dingdong for a good 2.5 hours (don’t say it!!)... Happens and I’m certainly ok with it. 😊 Glad a lot of you that weren’t winners yesterday are getting your lions share so far this morning/early afternoon. This morning’s setup certainly provided a much more a much more amplified, single convective snow band with great lift and instability. But again (as most of us are used to), these storms yield a razor thin snow shield that is I’m sure difficult to impossible to pinpoint where that sweet spot will be, bringing joy to some and lost hope to others. I always say this to people, to be a met in the Midwest, you have to be a little crazy in the head (in a good way!). I’m sure it drives the passionate ones like Chris bonkers. But they wouldn’t be in the profession if they didn’t enjoy the challenge that comes with it (even with all the backlash they get from the ignorant crowd). Amazing job with this storm so far Chris, once again!! Kudos!

I mentioned this before. Starting to look ahead. First of all christmas pretty quiet and mild. In fact gfs may not be mild enough. Then bw christmas and new years a pattern change is depicted. During this time period, potentially wet times and the pattern is suggestive of thunderstorms. Around the new year we settle back into cold times and quiter wx. There is some upslope snow depicted in the front range of the rockies as high pressure sinks south and new low pressure tries to spin up in the sw. Not sure if this will lead to more snow in the first week of jan but for now i stand by my conceptual seasonal outlook that we will wait a long time for our next big winterstorm. Got a long way to go for my 20 inch forecast verifies.

Roadways and even most objects at ground level still wet, however anything elevated more than about 10' is accruing ice at a good clip.

Radar not looking promising and appears to be thinning out to the west of me right now in Ballwin. Flake size has diminished quite a bit in the last 30 minutes. Dropped to light snow as well.

Wife reports that it's FINALLY transitioning to snow in Marissa. Confirmed with a video. Deck is sleet-covered, with hamsters splattering on top.
EDIT--no carp or snakes to report as of yet.

Hopefully we change to sleet here soon. The trees and power lines may not take what’s coming up from the southwest if it stays liquid. Temperature seems to have dropped since this morning.
