Just measured exactly 9". With the melting and compaction from yesterday we had to of had close to 10" in Waterloo. I measured 8.5 this morning at the same one place I measured yesterday late afternoon at 7, on top of a plastic storage box in a protected area. I didn’t go out in the yard, or measure multiple places. With all the sleet I got yesterday morning compacting my 2” from previous, I think 9 is not over estimating.

I should point out that I think MODOT did a good job with the roads I travel. IDOT—not so much. I realize the southern section of St. Clair County is sparsely populated, so I don’t expect much down my way; but even 13/15 between Fburg and Eckerts looked untouched. I also realize it’s probably a liability issue, but it’s frustrating being behind a county plow on an untouched state highway doing 35mph, and he won’t/can’t drop the blade. Besides that—it was much nicer driving yesterday when most people stayed home. Roads might be bad, but a lot of drivers are worse.

Picked up another 1.8" yesterday making the storm total 5.3" in Brighton. Not quite warning criteria but still a solid, long-duration snowstorm.

Finished up right at 4.5 for my storm total. We had 1.7 in round 1 and 2.8 in round 2. A challenging storm... but an interesting storm.

I'm on the southeastern side of that 6+ along I-70, but I measured only 5.0" for storm total. Nice storm, I'll take it.

5.5" for the storm total (In this total, I factored in some sublimation from Sun night) in Northern Wildwood just south of WHC. What a great storm!

Evidence mounting for a return to winter the first week of January.
So, enjoy the holidays with good travel weather. Then, hopefully we will have some stuff to track.

Another 1" was added overnight...Much more of a dry snow with the still visible perfect tiny snowflakes highlighted by the outside light this morning. Leaf blower took care of that at 5:45am. My overall total from all 3 waves was 5.75". On to the next one.
Edit: I did not add the sleet/grauple/freezing rain. No idea how to factor that in. I know the constant back and forth ate into my snow totals.

Eyeballing 6½-7“ on my deck this morning since things started Sunday morning. I'm sure there's some compaction and also it's also a bit windblown

Didn’t really measure but just looking I believe we ended up close to 3 inches here just west of Rolla. Another nailed forecast by Chris in my opinion. I seen so many changes in forecast during the two day period from others but steady as she goes worked again for Chris as usual Great job !!!

One other thing. I have seen trash talk in other states and areas trashing there local NWS. We have a really good NWS forecast team in our area. I am kind of in the middle between Springfield and st Louis offices so I look at both often. They are both quality forecasts every time. Between this websites very sharp contributors, Chris and the NWS I stay way ahead of my friends and neighbors who rely on there ever changing free apps.

5" Snow at the north end of Ste. Gen County; 0.5" snow with 0.20" ice accretion in Perryville. Just glad I got to see the buckets of snow yesterday. The cutoff is crazy down this way...you go from 5+ inches to a little sleet on the ground in the matter of a couple miles.
I hope January and February are active. I see no reason they won't be.

Here’s the NWS storm map. One of the more interesting snowfields laid down by a storm That map definitely tells the story of what I suspected across marion county. It was an interesting day here yesterday for sure. Salem was truly the divide between the plastering heavy snow and mixed precip. I witnessed every precip type there was (except plain rain) as it tried its heart out to snow. Precip started in earnest around 9am. I witnessed 3 separate transitions from sleet/zr to start, then to all sleet. Soon after, huge flakes mixed in and within 5 minutes monster flakes were falling, all snow. It did not last long as suddenly right before my eyes the cotton balls rapidly turned to sand flakes as I suspected a transition back to sleet. Sure enough, it went back to all sleet. It did this exact transition two more times before finally switching to snow (heavy) and staying snow around 1:30 pm. After all was said and done I picked up 3 in of snow and a quarter/half inch of sleet and a light glaze of ice. Roads were a true mess. I feel very fortunate as showtime and dschreib got the ultimate shaft it looks like (sorry guys). They had the tightest, most painful gradient and blow of anyone in the area it looks. A lot of times their weather translates over where I am being located ENE of Marissa. Every mile north mattered with this storm in wave 2 for Southeast Missouri and especially on the Illinois side. I'm glad for all of you to the west that got clobbered. Hope we can all have fun the next time around.

Modracer, is yours the 9.2 storm total from Chris's post on FB? I ask because I can corroborate that total. We had an additional 1.5 to 1 and 3/4's inch last evening during the deformation snow. 9.2 is what I had and I am half a mile or so north, northeast of Mascoutah.
