Hopefully get the deer moving this weekend at deer camp in Greenfield, not many days left. I wouldn't bother worrying about possible snow here for the next 10 days at the very least. It's going to snow tonight, lol.

Starting to see some signs of a storm next weekend.
Long way out, but you work with what you have

I believe that is is the same storm I alluded to/was alluding to last night....but I did not include a map...I did not want to be banned so early in the season.

Watching the Direct Weather forecast on You Tube on Friday. He said he was almost embarrassed by the way the models are so erratic right now. He was specifically talking about the snow that was forecast for the Northeast for the last few days that suddenly was just ...gone.
So others are less than pleased with model performance right now.

Looks like some light snow moving in. Doesn't look like it will last very long.

That pattern looks to get active, it looks very wet unfortunately not frozen. There is just no cold air in sight. It would take a miracle to get a decent snow in this pattern or major pattern change

12z gfs keeps its trend from 06z and makes things pretty interesting Friday night-sat. Enough cold air close by to tap. Actually looks just like the euro did a couple days ago.

The PNA is negative and forecasted to go hard negative. Going to be tough to get any sustained cold in the central and eastern US until that changes

Yea we may have something here. We will see what euro says.
At this point I’ve pretty much given up on the idea of sustained cold for the next few weeks. As others mentioned the indices just don’t support that. But, there’s deep enough cold close enough that we could luck into a decent system or two.

Just need one to tap into enough cold air

Busy times coming up for me the rest of winter between work and military obligations. I will be on and off at times...dont worry... I'm not jumping ship...nothing is wrong...just juggling the many hot irons every reservist has to juggle As for winter weather potential... with the cold air developing up north and the snowpack being put down up there... I have to believe it will force itself more to the south...at least in the low levels. I think an ice storm or two may eventually be in our future...I just don't know when.

Euro is good bit further south that it’s 0z run but leaves us singing in the rain. It is likely wrapping the storm up too tight given its history.

January and we barely get below freezing at night........I feel sorry for hidden valley They have lost a lot of the snow that they made a few weeks ago. I could see a lot of bare spots on the slopes when I came by yesterday.

Plenty of cold air in central Alaska but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Fairbanks has been been pretty consistent with-20 to -30 at night for the last 2 weeks or so and it looks to be continuing for at least the next week.
