GFS has another inch or so of rain later in the week, cold rain. No snow here. Though it may be trending in that direction. It has trended cooler and toward the other models...what a friggin weird setup.

Question...GFS has upper level temps PLENTY cold to support snow Thursday night into Friday morning, yet it is spitting out rain (other models for the most part show snow). Is this just because the surface temps are 33-35? Double check the 850mb temp charts. It looks like for a majority of the period temps are around 1C. Edit: Nevermind I see what you're talking about, in the latter part Thursday/Friday temps aloft are cold enough. So yeah precip typing is probably based off the warmer air near the surface.

Ukmet looks like it will remain east.
Waiting for the better charts to load though, so not written in stone

Itâs odd the Ukmet and Euro or not closer , the GFS really came in line this run. Itâs slightly warmer yuan the other models.

Iâve noticed the âupgradedâ FV3 GFS has some trouble with p-types in borderline thermal profiles.

The nam did a great job with last storm IMO from 60 hrs in. Gfs completely missed the precip shield. Hrrr was awful with temps.

The system later in the week bears close watching...it's an odd setup but with the mid-level low closing off and pivoting through slowly it has potential to drop significant snowfall across the region. It may have to rely on dynamical cooling through...the low-level thermal profile is pretty marginal.
Today's clipper looks to mostly miss us to the west despite a decent track of the 500mb vort max and 850mb low. Should see a few flakes this afternoon and evening though.

Light flakes falling here all morning long so far. Nothing to get excited about just mood flakes. Looks like the main part of today with scoot just to the west of me
