Expect an unprecedented 30% unemployment rate and a 50% drop in GDP. However...such a scenario may be followed by a sharp rebound in 2020-Q4 and 2021-Q1 with strong stimulus policies. In other words, pessimistic even downright bleak short term, but optimistic long term. Those who invest at the perfect time are going to cash out huge when we recover from this. One word, Tesla

One word, Tesla Did you miss OPEC destroying gasoline prices effectively making electric cars irrelevant for a bit? The fundamentals to the economy were trash before this, I would be weary of a sustained rally. Boeing seems to be sticking it to the taxpayers though. Sounds like they are paying overtime while their fleet is grounded and they demand a bailout...

That’s what I mean, Tesla’s stock is in a free fall. If it gets to 60$, I’m buying. Once oil goes back up, so will Tesla’s stock.

Tesla is still over where it was 6 months ago and I don’t think any rational human being would say it’s worth more now. Apple is in the same boat. Plenty of room to fall still, don’t get overeager

The federal reserve is injecting a trillion dollars a day to keep banks and the market afloat...that's $4,000 per citizen, per day...I don't see this ending well, or rebounding quickly.

Measured just over 3 1/2 inches from our "1-2 event" yesterday. Wish I'd been awake to see the end. Must have been some massive hamsters overnight!

when I was a teen, I would get a new datebook each year, and I would write the same unknown author quote on the front page: “Everything usually works out in the end, but sometimes it takes a strong stomach just to watch.”
My advice, laugh as much as humanly possible at the absurdity of it all. It’s ugly but temporary.

We are well beyond sound economic policy. That went out the window...eh, over a hundred years ago give or take. Exactly. At this point, the dollar is simply a social contract and its worth is based on perception. As long as we maintain the perception of stability, strength, and resilience our economy will have no problems quickly recovering from this. But, you take away any one of those and it makes it much more difficult.

Doesn’t appear to have any cold air connection either based on a quick and rather incomplete analysis. Not that it matters much as it would have to shift like 500 miles East for us to get on the colder side.

It may be a bit too far west for anything severe around here as well. Interesting trend though for sure and the GFS has a little bit of a flavor of it as well.

I can assure you S IL doesn't want anymore rain...I was down in the Carbondale area Saturday and the creeks and rivers down there are way out of their banks.

The alarm just went off for the start of my first day of "Work from Home" I spent the past couple of days cleaning up the home office and making sure I could have a presentable space for TV. We have no idea how long this will last...my guess is at least a month...probably longer. The only time you are likely to see one of us in studio is if there is severe weather. In a million years I never dreamt I would be working like this. And while it may sound fun, it is actually very stressful. Many more things can wrong here...and unlike working in the studio...I am the only one who can fix them here.
At the very least... it should be entertaining... especially when Daisy wants to get her back scratched.

To say the models look totally different for today than they did 24 hours ago is an understatement. What looked like a solid shortwave rolling into central MO is now poised to pass south of STL...with a significant shift south in the rain field and precip amounts.

Who knows, the amount of e-learning, e-broadcasting, and e-working could significantly change everything moving forward. I’m kind of excited and a little nervous for the fundamental and rapid change to the way people work. I write this from my workstation setup on a card table because my wife claimed squatters rights to the office. 😂
