Well my family is here at the Outpost cabins at Lake of the Ozark state park. Chilly night. Going to be raining all day tomorrow maybe even some sleet? I doubt that...
Then a break, but mid week the moisture from Zeta will hit our area. Ugh....

There seems to be a shift south on the models for tomorrow’s event Uncle Sam I think you’ll see some decent flakage NAM is oh so close tomorrow afternoon but the 850-700mb layer is just a bit too warm for flakes to break through. Given that, there is some sleet or graupel potential down to the metro with near-freezing surface wetbulb temps and possibly flakes if the shallow/weak warm layer is overwhelmed by heavier precip.

TS/Hurricane Zeta heading for the Louisiana coast. Fortunately a little east of the Lake Charles area. But that whole coast has been hammered this season. They don't need another one. Looks to stay well SE east of the STL area. Starts to get pretty tough to get the remnants of a tropical system into the mid-Mississippi valley this late in the season.

Seems like any of the heavier cores are producing enough evap cooling for sleet. Everything else is light rain

OK city has an ice storm warning till 1pm Wednesday. .5 to 1 inch of accumulation. In October. WTF Hopefully the first of many "wtf's" from this winter. But I doubt they come even close to that given the heavy precip rates and temps around 30 as opposed to a couple degrees colder when accretion is much more efficient. But impressive that it's even happening to that degree.

Satellite shows almost all of North America covered by clouds of some kind. Only Mexico is readily visible. That's pretty impressive.

As 99 alluded too, trees still have leaves on them which makes for a very dangerous situation. Good point. Though, it's still going to be hard to receive 1/2" of ice or more on trees, etc. I could be wrong big time, but it needs to colder during the day. As well, it has have been way above freezing there leading up to the ice storm so ground temps are toasty. Ice accretion should be more efficient tonight there.
