Coulda been worse...at least it wasn't a nuclear missile strike warning.

The test warning said test. It said test when it left the NWS. It was never supposed to trigger phones and WEA (weather emergency alert) system. Help us--or at least me--out with the logistics. When the local office issues a warning in an actual situation, does it normally go straight out to the WEA, or does it go to OKC or somewhere first? Here is the way it was just explained to me. There is a piece of software that takes the warning and sends it out to the WEA. That software was recently updated and that update caused it not to recognize the "test" coding of the warning. This was an issue across all of Missouri and Kansas.

Coulda been worse...at least it wasn't a nuclear missile strike warning. Or it could have been a real tornado for which no warnings were issued.

What is scattered on nws radar all day looks like popcorn showers all day. Are those birds?

As I told Kevin at the NWS, look on the bright side... this is most attention the Tornado Drill has probably ever received

yeah, the WEA alert was not such a big deal, IMO. People are blaming the NWS for raising some nerves, but in actuality, this was not so bad in the big scheme of things. I get that it's an IT issue. But coming from a software engineering background I think a re-test is in order. That said, I think there needs to be some degree of tolerance here.

I was working outside on my boat and it was unbelievable. Also had a mating pair of hawks flying around the neighborhood all day. Spring Peepers on the carport the other night. Looks like spring is here.

MJO is forecast to slide through the warm phases into phases 1,2, and 3- based off GFS. EPO is forecasted by Euro to tank mid-month. I’d say a winter storm is likely in the area March 15-20th. pretty good signal on the gfs16 during that time period. lol. I do think we still have some chilly weather coming. Might as well be on St. Patricks Day.

Funny thing is I never received a warning or anything on my phone and didn’t hear any sirens. Guess it’s a good thing I’m addicted to weather so I usually will be staring at a radar in it sprinkles lol.

I don’t think the sirens ever went off here in Arnold. I wonder if they went off anywhere else in Jeffco

NWS reports the software bug that allowed the test warning to reach the WEA has already been isolated and fixed! That's why we do these drills, tests, etc. Great work fixing it fast guys!

I thought it noteworthy that the weather radio alert didn't sound until the sirens had been sounding for 3 or 4 minutes.

Euro is showing a highly sheared environment with the system in a week that brings a line of convection through the area. Instability is really meager which limits the severe potential but its worth watching if instability can trend upward in the coming days

Oh I agree, it's swampy out there. A few weeks of dry weather would be nice, before the Spring storms.
