Very chilly looking pattern developing mid-week into next weekend with the vortex diving in and digging a hole over the upper Midwest thanks to the strong -NAO blocking. Wouldn't be surprised to see some flakes flying Friday if the forecast holds. Hopefully we can avoid a hard freeze...clouds and wind may hamper that unless we catch a good radiational cooling setup Sat AM.

The cool, rainy weather should set up a good flush once the weather finally warms up.

4 racks of pork ribs on the smoke! The doggos and I are enjoying this fantastic weather and the smell of BBQ smoke... and of course the adult beverage or three. Happy Sunday cornrites!

Looks like after the cold snap this upcoming week, things will warm up around mid-month. Already hearing some rumblings about severe weather mid-month.

I noticed models are building a pretty anomalous ridge into the central/E US after next week. Might finally be the straw that breaks the camel's back of winter...

I just want to put plants in the ground without doing a tap dance. I'm torn because the gardener in me wants to pull my hair out while the morel hunter in me is very pleased indeed, lol!

For tomorrow:
...Central Missouri/west-central Illinois... As the northern Plains upper low moves steadily east-southeastward, strong/diffluent flow aloft will overspread the Missouri/Illinois area. Meanwhile, heating ahead of an advancing cold front should result in modest destabilization -- likely sufficient to support late afternoon frontal thunderstorm development. While modest CAPE will likely support only sub-severe hail, risk for stronger wind gust or two -- or even a tornado -- would be possible with one or two of the stronger storms within the frontal band. Any severe risk should diminish during the evening, as the boundary layer diurnally stabilizes.

I'm so happy to be home. To be in a one-level apartment (until the house is built). I got my work desk set up, I can start putting weight on my foot, and I love being close to family!

that cell coming from the west - looks like plenty of hail, and some intense rain. There's been some high wind reports out that way as well. Batten down the hatches.

I’ve moved recently to an apartment on the 27th floor. What sort of damage could a tornado do? I figure windows for sure. I’m looking forward to watching storms roll through town with such a view.

Plenty of shear and storm relative helicity out there. Probably a good thing there’s not much CAPE
