It just dawned on me that a few hours after the air raid sirens went off on Friday morning "by mistake" we had a fly over from a communist country. Coincidence? I think not! Someone just overestimated the speed of the threat and jumped the gun. I would rather know too soon rather than too late! Great job everyone!
Lol!

00z gfs and ggem are very interesting by Friday.
If there is a complete phase, somebody is going to get smoked as a low sits and spins for a long period.
I like the setup once the initial wave gets out of the way.

Models are all pretty much terrible if you want snow and not rain. Ukmet is own its own with snow south and west of the metro on Friday. Thereâs been no consistency for any legit chance of snow, one day one model will show something only to loose it the next model runs.

So, we have the slight hope on Friday.
Then we are mild the following week.
That means all our hopes rest on the SSW happening towards the 24th.
That would make March interesting. Otherwise, it is basically over.

Happy National Weatherperson's Day!
The day commemorates the birth of John Jeffries in 1744. Jeffries, one of America's first weather observers, began taking daily weather observations in Boston in 1774 and took the first balloon observation in 1784.
I find this kinda info pretty cool đ

Happy Weatherperson's Day Chris, I don't know the 'exact' definition that is used for 'Weatherperson" but I certanly feel many on this blog also qualify for that designation and recognition. Happy Weatherperson's Day to you all also. You know who you are.

So thankful for your Chris, thank you for all you do.
And for once in my life who cares about the rest of winter.
Its been a wierd and long one all in the same with not much snow, just annoying cold snaps.
If we cant get the snow lets just start spring and get the grills going and flowers blooming. If we get a big snow the next 6 weeks great otherwise lets get on with it and if it snows its just a suprise.
Not sure why but Im just done with this winter and its annoying attitude.

We all are so lucky to have a connection with you. Cheers! â¤ď¸đ I thought Chris was on board in 1993. I could have sworn it was him that I watched on the evening forecast...for 10 to 15 inches of snow and near blizzard conditions - the first of two major winterstorms in February of 1993. Didn't those two storms happen in 1993? I guess 30 years have caused tricks in my mind.

18z gfs is close to a big storm Friday It is close but it has also backed off on the idea of the cold staying for the rest of the month after it. That went out the window when the recent SSW went from major to minor⌠12z gfs ensembles gave a 90% chance of a SSW later in the month and it looks like it could be a major one. If it fails, we are done. If it succeeds, March could be wild.

Eric Webb chastising Dr. Cohen about PV forecasts is amusing though.
There are so many other âpersonalitiesâ that deserve to be called out. Whereas Judah goes to great lengths to produce an insanely detailed weekly blog with his thoughts and caveats.
The EC wishcasters have Webb spraying condescension wildly at this point.
